On my first day at senior high, I arrived, and I went to the gym for the pep rally (动员大会). I felt nervous because I didn't know anybody. I sat down and then made a new friend, Nick.
After the pep rally, Nick and I walked out of the gym to our first class, Mr. Malouf 's ancient civilization ( 文明). We walked through the hallways looking for the classroom. As we were walking, I realized all the hallways looked like the inside of a hospital. I wasn't used to being in a school without much decoration (装饰). My junior high was covered with projects on the hallways' walls.
When Nick and I met Mr. Malouf we saw that he was of average ( 平均的) height and had brown hair. The class could tell from his introduction that he knew how everyone in the class felt. We were comforted after Mr. Malouf said “Okay, I know that this is your first day at senior high, but I still want this to be a good first class of senior high even though you are all thinking ‘I'm so nervous because this is my first class!’ ” Afterwards, our classmates introduced themselves to the other members of the class. Next, Mr. Malouf told the class about his background. After the class, Nick and I verbally ( 口头地) exchanged schedules and went to our next classes wherever they happened to be.
I had pictured my first day at senior high would be like the ones you see in the movies, but it wasn't. The first day at senior high in the movies usually shows a lonely teenager who is sitting by himself at lunch. But my day was so wonderful. It made me realize that people should believe that wonderful things do happen instead of always worrying about the bad things in life. I'd like to thank my friends and teachers who gave me such a good first day at senior high.

There's nothing like having a best friend forever — that person who you can have fun with and talk to. July 30 is the International Day of Friendship. Maybe you can keep an eye out for a new friend to get to know. And while we're talking about friends, don't think humans are the only ones who know a thing or two about friendship. Check out these friendly animals in nature who help each other out.
An elephant and an olive baboon ( 东非狒狒) can be friends It sounds strange, but it's true. You can find this pair of friends in the grasslands of Africa. This unusual pair helps each other out like any good friends would. The elephant uses its front teeth to make a waterhole in the sand, and it lets the olive baboon have a drink from this “well” when it gets thirsty. In return, the baboon tells the elephant when danger is near. It climbs up to the treetops and calls out so its friend knows that it's time to move on.
In the sea world, the goby fish and the shrimp ( 虾虎鱼和虾) are well-known for their friendship. While the shrimp provides a home for the goby fish, the goby fish provides a guidance service for the almost blind shrimp. You see, the goby has great eyesight (视力) and stays close to the shrimp. As the shrimp moves around, the shrimp is feeling the goby with its antenna (须) from time to time to make sure it's still there. If the goby senses danger, she will return to the home and the shrimp will follow.
The langur monkey has a very good friendship with the chital deer ( 花鹿). While the langur monkey eats in a tree, it drops leaves to the ground. This is good for the deer because sometimes there's not much food. The deer will follow the monkey and eat whatever food is dropped. And in return, when the monkey comes down from the tree, the deer will put its foot down heavily to tell the monkey if it senses danger.
28. How can an elephant help an olive baboon
A. By providing water.
B. By providing a home.
C. By providing protection.
D. By providing information.

A. It stays close to the goby fish.
B. It goes home from time to time.
C. It uses its antenna for directions.

30. What do the olive baboon and the chital deer have in common
A. They live together with their friends.
B. They warn their friends of danger.

A. Best friends forever
B. Love me, love my dog

I am a shy girl. I find it quite difficult to start small talk when I meet someone for the first time. I always wonder how the other kids my age can be so natural when they are introduced to people they've never met before.
On the morning of my first day in high school, I was on edge. I'd heard lots of the first day in high school stories. Many high schoolers had bad memories that they just couldn't let go of for quite a while. On the way to school I was thinking about what to do when I walked into the classroom. “Shall I wave ( 挥手) to those students who're in the classroom Or shall I just give them a smile and nod at them What if they didn't wave back or didn't smile back ” I couldn't stop imagining the worst situation of my first day in high school.
I kept my head down when I got close to my classroom. “Hello, little miss, I'm Mrs Sccar, would you like to start your high school life with a game ” What a relief (放松的事) it was to hear your new teacher talking to you in such a pleasant way! “Sure, I'd love to,” I answered in a low but happy voice.
Mrs Sccar gave me a piece of paper and it was a new school Bingo game. On the paper there were 40 squares, with 20 having questions and 20 empty. The questions were like “Have you ever visited England Do you have three older sisters ” Holding these pieces of paper, we went to the other classmates and asked them the questions. If any of them answered “yes” to a question, I wrote down his or her name in the empty square following the question. When I'd filled in all the empty squares, I knew everyone in my classroom. I quite enjoyed my first day in high school, especially the Bingo game.

You are not alone if you feel nervous when a teacher tells everyone to “introduce yourself ” in class. Some teachers use icebreakers such as personal introductions to encourage student participation ( 参与) in class discussions. 36 Preparing a short introduction paragraph can calm your nerves and improve self-confidence.
Instead of quickly saying your name in a low voice and introducing your hometown and middle school, you need to share some interesting details ( 细节) to help people remember you. 37 When you introduce yourself in class, keep it light and friendly. 38
When choosing what personal information to share, keep in mind the purpose: to introduce yourself in high school. You want your classmates and your teachers to get to know you and your personality. 39 Students also enjoy hearing about less common interests like kiteboarding.
40 When asked to introduce yourself in high school, consider the needs and interests of your classmates when choosing what academic (学术的) information to share. Like you, your classmates are hoping to make friends with other students who may have similar goals ( 目标) or who might be able to help them learn in areas where they struggle, such as math.
A. You can also explain your study plans.
B. In fact, self-introduction is about attitudes.
C. The purpose is to show you're warm and easy-going.
D. For example, you could introduce yourself in class by sharing a funny story.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Nila sat alone on the bus. Her older sister, Lexi, was one seat ahead, acting as if this was the best day ever. But for Nila, it was the worst. It was the last day of swimming lessons. Test Day.
“If I pass my test, I can sign up for Junior Lifeguarding over the summer,” Nila heard Lexi telling her friend Jess.
Nila hit the back of their seat with her foot.
Lexi's head popped up. “What are you doing ”
“I ...,” Nila started. Maybe she could talk to Lexi about the test. After all, Lexi had passed Level 4 several summers ago. “I'm sorry. It's just —”
“Everything OK back there ” asked the bus driver.
“Yep.” Lexi quickly turned to face the front.
“I thought sisters should be there for each other,” Nila said in a low voice to the window.
An hour later, Nila nervously held the edge (边缘) of the pool. She didn't know if she could swim all the way across. But the coach blew the whistle (哨子). She had no choice but to push off.
Lexi swam quickly. She'd passed Level 7! Junior Lifeguarding. “Here I come,” she thought. A kid from her class accidentally hit her, but she just smiled at him. She liked everyone right now. Nila, too — even though she'd been troublesome earlier. Where was she, anyway
After a minute, Lexi saw her sister crossing the pool. Nila was way behind the others, and Lexi could see why. For one thing, she lifted her whole head out of the water to breathe, instead of turning it to the side. That was a waste of energy (精力). Even worse, she wasn't swimming straight. As Nila neared the middle of the pool, she stopped.
“Keep going,” Lexi called. “You can do it!”
Nila threw one arm forward and dragged it back. Now the other arm. When she stopped to check her position ( 位置), she felt discouraged. Only halfway across! Some kids in her class were already at the wall. The coach was talking to one of the kids, so he didn't see her. “Better keep going,” she thought. But she was tired.

1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

第一节
One possible version:
A Welcome Party
To help new students better adapt to the new environment, a welcome party was organized by the student council in the school hall this afternoon.
At the party, new students first watched some lively videos of campus life in our school. After that, with the help of seniors from the student council, new students were divided into different groups where they introduced themselves to each other and played many interesting games.
Every student present thought the party offered a chance for them to embrace the new life and make new friends.
第二节
One possible version:
Lexi kept her eyes on her sister's slow progress. Three-fourths of the way across. Nila stopped again. As Lexi watched, Nila's head went underwater before it resurfaced. Uh-oh, thought Lexi. Her sister was in trouble, and she had to help. She started toward Nila. Nila got a mouthful of water and coughed. She felt as if she'd been swimming for hours. If only someone would see she was too tired to keep going. But nobody saw her.
Just then, Nila felt strong arms holding her from behind. “Lie back,” her sister's voice said. “I've got you.” As they dressed, Lexi told Nila next time they went to the pool she'd teach her the right way to breathe so she wouldn't get so tired. “With a little more practice, I know you can pass Level 4,” she added. Nila cheered up and she thought it would be nice to have a strong swimmer by her side. “You'll make a good lifeguard someday,” Nila said. Lexi smiled. “Really ” Nila nodded. “Yeah. And you're already a good sister.”

46. C。“我”小时候老是独自玩耍,自然“知道(know)”大多数孩子都不喜欢自己一个人玩。
47. D。由本段中“我”小时候的经历可知,“我”认为“孤单的(lonely)”孩子通常是不会快乐的。
