As a photographer, I left my hotel room on Thursday excited to record Tokyo.
I had just left the Tokyo Metro system, four floors under Shinjuku Station. Thousands of people stayed at train platforms ( 月台) and around the shops. It was around 3 p. m. I was lined up at the Bullet Train ticket counter to get some information about a trip to Nagoya tomorrow.
It was then that I felt the ground move under me slightly ( 轻微地). I took no notice of it at first, as did everyone around me. Then, seconds later, things started falling to the ground. I looked at an elderly man next to me. He smiled back at me and said one word: “Earthquake.”
I ran for the door, about 60 feet away. The ground was shaking so strongly that it was difficult to run in a straight line. My body was shaking when I reached the street; I still remembered the World Trade Center falling to the ground.
I turned to look at the building that I had just run out of; it was shaking uncontrollably. You could still hear the ground shaking as thousands of people evacuated the buildings. I started to take photos of everything that was happening.
I would find out later that afternoon that the quake was a magnitude ( 震级) of 8.9. Some people were shaken. There were a few women crying, but many others appeared calm and relaxed.
Making my way back to my hotel was a long and unforgettable journey. The rail system in Tokyo was completely shut down and millions were trying to make their way home on foot. The traffic came to a standstill on the streets, but I didn't learn how catastrophic ( 灾难的) the event had actually been until I got to my hotel and turned on the news.

Being a student, especially an international one, means having a lot of friends in different countries. So, for us, it is quite common to maintain ( 维 持) friendships by electronic communications. I never believed in Internet friendship. Yes, I met people online. I had one very good friend from a forum (论坛); we were talking and then we just disappeared from each other's lives. So I never thought that an Internet friend might be truly real.
Recently, I changed my mind. A few weeks ago I came back from St Petersburg, a city I don't know at all, except for one girl who changed my understanding of friendship.
I met Dilyara on a FanFiction website. I found one of her stories, and really liked it so I commented (评论) on it. She liked my stories too. Then after a while of just reading them, we decided to exchange real names and started chatting on social media platforms
In just 3 days we knew everything about each other. We just understood each other in seconds; we had the same interests, made the same jokes and shared common opinions and similar situations in our lives. In a week we couldn't spend one day without texting each other. We were sending each other gifts and letters on birthdays, New Year, and other holidays. She helped me a lot on my bad days and I was also there for her. Although we have thousands of kilometres between us, it is the strongest friendship I have ever had.
Internet friendship is something really good. Victoria Lebed, a student from London, tells me she also believes in Internet friendship. She actually has a few online friends she is always happy to talk to. They share what is going on in their lives and give each other advice. B. It is a close one.
C. It makes them tired and uncomfortable.
D. It is their most important social relationship.
31. What does Victoria Lebed suggest people do when making friends online
A. Keep your secrets and take them seriously.
B. Talk about things you both like.
C. Open your hearts to each other.
D. Make friends but be careful.
D
About 72% of Americans use social media, where it's common to make new friends, build relationships, or share photos of your daily life.
Social media allows people to connect in ways that wouldn't otherwise be possible, and can often expand ( 扩展) people's social circles, says Kathryn Moore, Ph. D., a psychologist at Providence Saint John's Child and Family Development Center in Santa Monica. On social media, you can connect with those people in similar situations and share worries, fears, and celebrations, Moore says. According to her research, up to 64% of teens report they have made a new friend online, for example, and 83% of teens report that social media makes them feel more connected with their friends.
Social media can negatively impact relationships when you start comparing yourself to other people, including your friends, just based on their social media, Moore says. For example, some may fear their lives aren't as good as their friends' and take friendships away because they feel they're not good enough. Problems with self-esteem ( 自尊) can also appear when posting about some relationships on social media, but not all of them. “People might feel left out that they're not as important if they're not being shared on social media,” Moore says. Cyberbullying (网络霸凌) can also negatively impact relationships, whether you are receiving mean comments or sending them to someone else.
In order to grow a relationship that started online you should show the real you. To deepen a relationship that started on social media, Moore suggests talking on the phone or meeting in person. This allows for more fluid ( 流畅的) conversations, where you can communicate in real time. Remember that the people who you meet online can become an important part of your life.
“If a relationship created through online resources is treated with respect and consideration, it can be a great way to meet someone you might never have had the chance to meet,” says Don Grant, Ph. D., chairman of the American Psychological Association's Device Management & Intelligence Committee.
32. What can we say about social media according to Moore's research
A. It has become the most important way for teens to make friends.
B. It prevents people from making friends in real life.
C. It can help teens to develop real relationships.
D. It makes teens feel more lonely and lost.
33. What is the main idea of Paragraph 3
A. Social media may influence relationships in a bad way.
B. Building relationships online is not a piece of cake.
C. Relationship online makes people less connected.
D. Social media increases the risk of cyberbullying.
34. What does Don Grant think of the relationship online
A. It leads people to lose chances to meet face to face.
B. It is more respectable than the relationship in real life.
C. It can be meaningful if dealt with properly.
D. It can be developed in an informal way.
35. Which of the following shows the structure of the text
A. B.
C. D.
(P1 = Paragraph 1, P2 = Paragraph 2 ...)

The friends we meet in school teach us how to share. When we grow older, our friends teach us how to take responsibility ( 责任). As we continue into our 40s and beyond, we learn to weather the ups and downs in life. 36 Friendship is key to our success with all our relationships and it can create a sense of purpose in our lives.
The people we bring into our lives as friends will show us how to forgive ( 原谅), laugh, and make conversation. 37 We understand the process of meeting new acquaintances (熟人) and finding out what makes them tick.
One of the most overlooked advantages of friendship is that it helps keep our minds and bodies strong. 38 A recent Harvard study found that having good friendships in our life even helps improve brain health. Friendship is also important to our mental ( 精神的) health. One study even suggested spending time with positive friends actually changes our feelings for the better. 39
Friends don't completely cure ( 治愈) loneliness but they do help us during lonely times. Having a lifelong friend lets us know that some friendships won't last forever but each one brings something special. We learn more about ourselves and how important it is to have someone, just one person, who knows and understands you. 40
A. We should value those painful times.
B. Some friends share a different worldview.
C. This is the key to coming out of loneliness.
D. We don't just talk with others but learn from them.
E. Once again, friends provide a sounding board and place for us to grow.

“Class, please line up! Let's welcome Marti,” said Ms. Baroni, our tae kwon do (跆拳道) teacher.
I was excited that my best friend Marti would be taking lessons, too.
Everyone said, “Hi.” Marti went red in the face.
“You don't need to be shy here,” I said to Marti in a quiet voice. “Everyone's really nice.”
After warm-up exercises, Ms. Baroni divided everyone into groups. Even though I was a level above Marti, Ms. Baroni told us to practice together. “Jenna, why don't you show Marti some basic kicks ”
I said sure and showed her a front kick. Marti copied it. Her kick was as high as my shoulder. “Great job, Marti! Let me show you something,” said Ms. Baroni. She then spent the next five minutes working with Marti. I leaned (倚靠) against the wall and watched Marti copy everything Ms. Baroni did. The more Marti did, the more praise she received from Ms. Baroni.
I practiced my form half-heartedly. “What if Marti became better than me What if Marti became Ms. Baroni's favorite student ” I couldn't help thinking.
“Watch your form!”
“Who is Ms. Baroni speaking to ” I wondered. I turned and saw Ms. Baroni looking directly at me. Nothing could have been worse.
At the end of class, I took my bag and hurried outside to find my mom. I had planned to wait and say good-bye to Marti, but now I wanted to be alone. For the next several weeks, Marti continued to impress our teacher with her skills. Honestly, I felt a little jealous (忌妒的) of her. And as Marti turned into a star student, I became less and less excited about tae kwon do.
One day, as we walked down the hallway at school, Marti said, “Ms. Baroni thinks I'm ready to take the test for the next level.”
I was surprised. “It's harder than you think. Two judges other than Ms. Baroni will give you points,” I said.
Marti looked disappointed ( 失望的). “You don't think I'm good enough to take the test yet ”

第一节
One possible version:
Dear Allen,
I'm Li Hua, a student from Class 1. I'm writing to ask you nicely to play a song called Seasons in the Sun for my friend Bob on International Friendship Day.
When I was studying abroad in his country last summer holiday, it was he and his family who helped and cared for me. We have become very close friends since then, and we always share everything with each other.
Could you please help me to express my thanks to him Looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much!
Yours faithfully,

第二节
One possible version:
I felt my face get hot, and I explained, “I didn't say that.” I didn't like feeling jealous but I couldn't help it. I wasn't ready to take the test for my next level because I hadn't been practicing every day. A week later, at the level testing, I saw Marti. “You'll do fine,” I said, although I knew I'd feel better if Marti made a mistake. When Marti finished her test, everyone cheered. One of the judges asked Marti how often she practiced. “About 45 minutes every day,” Marti said. “I don't practice that much!” I thought. No wonder Marti was getting so good.
“I haven't been a very good friend,” I thought sadly. Later, I walked towards Marti to congratulate her. “You really did a great job!” I said. “You think so ” Marti asked. I nodded. “Maybe we could start practicing together.” Hearing what I said, Marti got very excited and then she said, “So I might have a chance of becoming as good as you.” I laughed. “Funnily enough, I was hoping I might become as good as you.”

42. D。下文中的improve human and community connections 可提示Group61项目帮助Trevor与Jenny“建立联系(connect with)”。
43. C。 Trevor, who joined the Group61 program及文章末句中的I'm ...
44. A。由本句中的someone they can meet up with and spend time with及最后一段中的Jenny and I ... have done lots of things可知,志愿者与精神疾病患者配对后会“一起(together)”参加不同的活动。
45. D。由本句中的which has enabled us to talk about anything, even our own mental health可知,Trevor 与Jenny 都很“坦率(open)”,他们可以谈论任何事情,甚至各自的精神健康状况。
46. A。 Group61 is a volunteer mental health befriending program 及Jenny ... a volunteering job可推断,Jenny是在“找(searching for)”志愿者工作的时候加入了Group61。
48. A。 结合本句中的it seemed like the perfect match可知,此处表示她知道了Group61这个项目,found out符合语境。
49. C。由本句中的like going for a coffee or visiting museums可知,这里需要填一个能概括这些内容的单词,表示“活动”或者“事情”,故填activities。
50. D。 Tuesdays are known as Trevor Tuesdays及本句中的have done lots of things可知,Jenny与Trevor每周二“见面(meet)”,一起待约两个小时。
51. A。 结合本句中的we have good conversations可知,Trevor “喜欢(enjoy)” 和Jenny待在一起。
