Step 1:Warming up and lead-in Do you like travelling Have you ever been to Egypt Have you seen the Pyramids Step 2:Pre-reading 1.Let the students read the questions in Activity 1: 1)Which interesting places in China have you visited 2)Have you ever seen the Great Wall 3)Have you ever visited another country 2.Work in pairs.Ask and answer the questions. 3.Teach them the new words in the passage. Step 3:Reading 1.Play the recording and listen to it carefully. 2.Replay the tape.Let students listen and repeat,and pay attention to the stress. 3.Let students read the passage,work in pairs and find out the difficulties in the passage and ask the teacher for help. 4.Explain the difficulties to the students. 5.Ask the students to read through the passage. 6.Ask the students to answer the questions. 1)How long have the Robinsons been in Egypt 2)Why do they live in Cairo 3)What have they seen and done in Egypt 4)What do Mike and Clare find difficult about Arabic 5)Who do they miss in the US 6)Are they looking forward to going home 7.Have two students share their answers,and then check the answers.
