Huang is from Liaoning Province. She started the 70 Munros Challenge in 2015 to raise money for Christian Aid which helps end poverty(贫穷). She really enjoyed climbing mountains so she decided to climb all 282.
“When I heard that I was the first person from China to have climbed all 282 Munros, I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep the first night,” said Huang. Huang climbed more than 100 on her own and others with friends, spending almost all her weekends climbing.
Huang discovered her love for mountain climbing after her son went to university.
“What I enjoyed most about these walks is when you reach the top,” she said, “…you forget all the worries at work, in your life, and just don’t think about anything at all…”
Huang came to the UK in 2004. Her next challenge is to walk Hadrian’s Wall and climb some of Scotland’s small mountains.
