Ⅱ.阅读理解
There are different kinds of robots in the world now, but we never have a robot that has humans' feelings! Japanese scientists at Hitachi have made the world's first robot with a sense of humor(幽默) that can not only make jokes, but also cry when it feels sad.
The robot, named EMIEW2, can have a short conversation with a human without help. It listens for key words or phrases in a sentence—like“how many”—to find out what question it is and then asks the person to make sure before answering it. It can understand facial(面部的) expressions, like crying or smiling and it can also understand body language, like head nodding.
During a show in Tokyo, EMIEW2 showed off its skills. It was asked to answer a question about how many people work at Hitachi, and it answered, “We have two ducks.”
When the person who asked the question looked confused, the robot explained that it was kidding. “You got it I just want to make you relaxed. We have about 800 people working here,” it said.
Even though(尽管) it doesn't have enough senses of humor, a scientist in the company said that the robots' ability to know facial expressions is what the world should care for. “Science makes it possible for a robot to understand what a human means, even if they are just kind of successful,” he explained.
