教材分析 The theme of this section is "describing people's emotions". Through the article, the author vividly and carefully describes the characters' words and deeds, character, quality and spirit. The behavior and virtue of characters can be described with the verb -ing form as object complement and adverbial. The key grammar of this unit is to learn the usage of -ing form as object complement and adverbial. Three activities are designed in this section. The teaching principle of activity 1 is to allow students to conduct independent inquiry learning, discuss the three sentences appearing in the reading text, understand the meaning and pragmatic function of the sentences, find out the use of the verb -ing form in the sentences, and find more sentences using the verb -ing form from the unit. Activity 2 fill in the blanks with the correct verb form. The teaching purpose of the exercise is to let students experience and master the meaning and usage of the verb -ing form in the actual context.

一、现在分词作状语的用法
动词ing形式作状语,即现在分词作状语,属于非谓语动间。在形式上与动名
词相同,也是"动词ing形式”构成。除了构成进行时态之外,在句中还可以
作定语、表语、宾语补足语和各种状语。
现在分词有一般式、完成式两种时态以主动语态和被动语态形式。
它的各种形式如下表所示(以动词do为例) :

说明:现在分词的否定形式是在doing 之前加not 现在分词作状语和宾语补足语
现在分词(短语)在句中可作时间、原因、条件、结果、方式、让步或伴随状语。
1.作时间状语(相当于一个时间状语从句)

= When/While she was walking in the street, she witnessed a car accident.
当她在街上行走时,她目睹了一场车祸。
注意:现在分词的一般式作时间状语,往往表示动作与谓语动词同时或相继发生。现在分词的完成式作时间状语,往往表示动作先于谓语动词发生。作时间状语的现在分词前有时可以加上when、while等连词。

4. 作结果状语
现在分词作结果状语,一般位于句末。前文表示原因,现在分词表示造成的必然结果。

注意:现在分词和不定式作结果状语的区别
①现在分词:常位于句尾,前面的主句表示原因,后面的现在分词(短语)表示自然而然的结果。
