Our cities are getting bigger and bigger because more people move from the countryside to the city. They do this mostly because most big companies are in cities and they need lots of people to work there. When there are lots of people living and working in a city, places like restaurants, shops, hospitals and schools are needed. There are more jobs that need people to do.
Unfortunately, cities are very busy. It is more expensive and dangerous to live in the city than in the countryside. It is also less healthy to live in the city because of the cars and trucks on the roads. The people in the city are also less friendly than those in the countryside. You cannot know everyone as you do in the countryside, and people may get lonely. Most people live in flats, and they do not have gardens or larger space.
On the contrary, people in the countryside are much friendlier and everyone knows each other. It is also much cheaper to live there and there are fewer dangerous people than you can find in a city. Perhaps the best thing in the countryside is that you can have a big house with a garden and it will be very quiet. But there are not many jobs or services there. And it is hard to get around.
Everyone may have a different choice, but more and more people are choosing to live in cities because there is so much to do there.
