Ⅴ.[2020·通辽] 阅读理解
Dear Nancy’s parents,
My daughter had a bullying(欺凌) problem a couple of years ago. It wasn’t easy, but I ended it. When things are as serious as you describe, it is no time to be silent. These kids probably know each other from school, so take the rude text messages sent by the bully directly to the headmaster and show him. Describe to him how it is affecting your 13-year-old daughter. Tell him you will not stand it and you want him to put an end to it now.
Bullying is a dangerous and serious offense these days, and any good headmaster will take your charges seriously. He will probably address the issues with the parents. If they are crappy parents, then they may do nothing to their child. You may have to repeat this process several times, but you need to keep a check on those text messages and don’t allow your child to delete them.
Now is the time to draw your child close and take care of her, because she needs it. My daughter did not like me being involved(参与的) either, but you are the only hope she has of solving this problem, so do it and mean business. Always be polite but straightforward. The headmaster and the parents must know you mean business.
If repeated meetings with the headmaster (and parents, if he allows it) do not solve the problem, then I would consider hiring a lawyer. That will send the message across loud and clear. When you are talking about financial loss, most parents will stand up and take notice and act to keep their kid under control!
Good luck—I wish you the best in this terrible situation.
Yours,
Rachel

Ⅵ.[2020·吉林改编] 任务型阅读
A new report from a university says 80% of the world’s teens don’t get enough exercise every day. The report was based on(基于) a research done with about 2 million students aged 11 to 17 around the world. According to the report, activity standards are different in different countries and they are also different between boys and girls. In China, for example, only 20% of the boys are active enough, compared to 11% of the girls.
Why don’t teens go out for exercise One main reason is that they always have technology products in their hands or around them. They spend too much time on smartphones, computers and TVs in their free time. Many teens find it very hard to pull themselves away from these devices(设备). The report says that young people need to do less in the digital world but more in the real world. It advises kids to get at least an hour of exercise every day. This could include running, biking, playing sports, or many other outdoor activities.
More and more research shows that exercise not only helps the body, but also helps the brain. Besides, doing sports helps kids to make friends. Mark, a sports fan, started to play football when he was six years old. He used to be shy and weak, but now he has become taller and stronger. He gets to know the importance of communicating with his teammates and how to learn from mistakes and failure. And he has made lots of friends with the same interest.
