There you are, sitting in an ice cream shop at the mall. You’re chatting with your friends. Suddenly, music begins to play and some people begin to appear(出现)and start to sing or dance. What’s going on It’s a flash mob!
A flash mob is a group of people who gather suddenly in a public place, perform for a short time and then quickly move away.
The idea for the flash mob came from Bill Wasik, an editor(编辑)of a magazine. The first successful flash mob appeared on June 17, 2003. On that day, more than 130 people came to a shop in New York. They gathered around an expensive carpet(地毯). When salesman asked them what they were doing, these people said that they were shopping as a group. And a few seconds later, they went away quickly.
Today, the flash mob is becoming more and more popular among young people. It appears in many cities around the world. I watched some videos of flash mobs on the Internet. They are very interesting. Why do people organize such activities
Some flash mobs are meant to amuse people. Some are for art. Other flash mobs are just for fun.
