Do you know “Xicheng Dama” It refers to a group of volunteers, usually old women, They all live in the neighborhood in Xicheng District of Beijing(北京西城区)and they care about the community and help make it better.
Among all these volunteers, there is a special man-Terry Crossman. He is a 64-year-old American and has lived in China for more than 20 years.
“I love China. I became interested in China and Chinese when I was only 13,” said Terry. He came to Taiwan, China when he was 18. During that trip, he got a Chinese name “Gao Tianrui”. In 1997, Gao and his family moved to Beijing after 12 years’ work in Hong Kong.

The first bikeway in Beijing, between Huilongguan in Changping District and Shangdi in Haidian District, was opened on May 31, 2019.
It takes around 30 minutes on average for commuters to cycle from Huilongguan residential area to Software Park in Shangdi. Due to heavy traffic, it takes more than 40 minutes and even one hour to commute by subway in rush hours(高峰期)Beijing has many designated(指定的)lanes for bicycles. However, cars are increasingly encroaching(侵占), and they are often crowded with parked cars.
