Period 1 (Section A 1a-2c)
设计说明
本课时为该单元第一课时,主要学习有关职业的词汇和“What do you want to be when you grow up ” “How are you going to do that ”等句式。通过展示多媒体图片,利用“直观教学法”学习生词,可以激发学生的学习兴趣,提高课堂效率;通过小组问答,讨论他们未来理想的职业以及如何实现他们的理想(可创设情境,更好地调动学生的积极性);听录音、角色扮演等活动让学生在轻松的氛围中学习;通过开展调查问卷活动,培养学生的合作意识。
教学目标
1. 知识目标:
(1)掌握单词和短语:cook,doctor,engineer,violinist,driver,pilot,pianist,scientist,grow up,computer programmer。
(2)掌握句式:“—What do you want to be when you grow up —I want to be a basketball player.” “—How are you going to do that
—I’m going to practice basketball every day.” 。
2. 能力目标:
(1)能够利用目标句型谈论自己理想的职业和如何实现自己的理想。
(2)用be going to结构表达将要做的事情。
3. 情感目标:通过对人生理想的讨论,引发学生对自己的未来和理想的思考,并为实现自己的理想而努力奋斗。
重点难点
1. 重点:
(1)利用所学单词和句型谈论自己理想的职业。
(2)学习本课时出现的重点句式,通过在不同情境下的运用来熟练掌握be going to结构。
2. 难点:用be going to结构表达自己的打算,谈论自己未来的职业及为实现这个理想而采取的措施。
教学准备
多媒体课件、录音机和磁带,一些有关职业的图片,调查表格。
教学过程
Step 1 Revision & Warming up
1. Talk freely. Ask students to talk about their family members’ jobs in pairs.
For example:
T:What is your mother
S1:She is a teacher.
T:What does your father do
S1:He is a teacher,too.
T:What do you do
S1:I am a student.
T:What do you want to be when you grow up
S1:I want to be a teacher.
T:Why
S1:Because I like children and I can be good with them.

2. Ask students to practice the similar conversations with the pictures below.

Step 2 Presenting the words
1. Let’s talk about dream jobs. For example:
A:What do you want to be when you grow up
B:I want to be a pilot. (Write down “pilot” on the blackboard. In the same way teach the new words:engineer,pianist,scientist,doctor,cook,violinist,computer programmer. )

2. Check Learning Task 1.

Step 3 Cooperative inquiry
Discuss and fill in the blanks.
1. 观察上述单词,找出规律
(2)(3)(7)(8)是词尾+-er/or构成名词,(4)(5)(6)词尾+-ist构成名词。
2. 总结所学过的有关职业名词的常见构成方法。
A. 第一方队:a. 动词+-er,构成的职业名词最多,意为“……家/人”等。如:
(1)teach(教)→teacher(老师)
(2)work(工作)→worker(工人)
(3)farm(耕种)→farmer(农民)
(4)clean(打扫)→cleaner(清洁工)
(5)sing(唱;唱歌)→singer(歌唱家;歌手)
(6)play(打球等)→player(球员)
b. 名词(多为自然学科)+-ist,意为“……家”等。如:
(1)art(艺术;美术)→artist(艺术家;画家)
(2)science(科学)→scientist(科学家)
c. 名词+-ian,意为 “……家/员”等。如:
music(音乐;乐曲)→musician(音乐家)
B. 第二方队:名词+man/woman,意为“……人/员”等。如:
(1)police(警方)→policeman(男警察)/policewoman(女警察)
(2)business(生意)→businessman(商人)
(3)sports(运动)→sportsman(男运动员)
(4)post(邮递;邮件)→postman(邮递员)
C. 第三方队:其他“纯天然”式职业名称。如:
(1)学生student     (2)护士nurse
(3)医生doctor  (4)厨师cook
3. “want to+动词原形”表示“想做……”。如:你想去看电影吗 Do you want to see a film
4. “be going to+动词原形”表示“打算做……”。如:今天下午你打算做什么 What are you going to do this afternoon
Step 4 Practicing the words
1. Show some pictures on the big screen.
2. Let students guess what he/she is.
3. Ask students to look at the screen and remember the words.
4. Work on 1a.
Tell students to rank them [1-12]. (1 is the most interesting,12 is the least interesting. )
Answers will vary.
5. Fill in the following blanks using the words in 1a.
(1)Because of the heavy snow,the pilot had to land the plane at an airport in another city.
(2)Lang Lang,a famous pianist,likes to play the piano for children.
(3)He is a bus driver. He was driving a bus when I met him yesterday.

Step 5 Listening
Work on 1b.
1. Tell students to read the words of jobs in 1b. Make sure they know the meanings of the words or the phrases.
2. Ask students to guess what the people in the picture are going to be.
3. Listen and fill in the blanks of 1b.
4. Play the recording again. Check the answers with students.
5. Play the recording again. Students listen and match the items.
6. Play the recording again. Ask students to listen and repeat,paying attention to their pronunciation and intonation.
7. Show the answers on the big screen.

Step 6 Pair work (1c)
1. Ask students to talk about the people in 1b:

3. Ask several pairs to act out their conversations.
Step 7 Listening
Work on 2a.
1. Let students look at the picture below. Explain the activities in the picture if necessary.
2. Play the recording for students to listen and check the correct boxes in the picture.
3. Play the recording again to check the answers.

Work on 2b.
1. Ask students to look at the chart below. Tell students that they’ll listen to Cheng Han’s plans for the plete the chart.

2. Play the recording for students to write the correct answers in the chart.

4. Play the recording for the third time and get students to listen and repeat. Focus students’ attention on the pronunciation and intonation.
Step 8 Pair work (2c)
Ask and answer questions.
1. Tell students to ask and answer questions about Cheng Han’s plans using the information in 2b.
2. Give a model to students.
For example:

B:He wants to be a teacher.
A:Where is Cheng Han going to move
B:He is going to move to Shanghai.
A:How is Cheng Han going to become a teacher

Ⅰ. 1. violin;violinist play the violin为固定短语,意为“拉小提琴”。由语境及提示词可知第二空应填violinist,意为“小提琴家”。
2. driver;drives 句意:我哥哥是一位司机。他每天开车去上班。由不定冠词a可知第一空用drive的名词形式driver;第二句缺少谓语动词,由第二个空前的he可知第二空填drives。
3. piano;pianist piano lessons意为“钢琴课”;由第二句句意“现在他成为一名优秀的钢琴家”可知第二空应填pianist。
