英语中只由一个主语（或并列主语）和一个谓语（或并列谓语）构成的句子叫简单句。
两个或多个简单句由连词连接成一句话，该句就为并列句。常见的连接词有and，but，or。

英语中只由一个主语（或并列主语）和一个谓语（或并列谓语）构成的句子叫简单句。
二．简单句 分类
主语+谓语（不及物动词）（SV型）
The rain stopped. They are talking.
主语+谓语（及物动词）+宾语（SVO型）
Children often sing this song. My mother is watching TV.
主语+连系动词+表语（SVP型）
Betty looks very beautiful. The book is new.
主语+谓语（及物动词）+间接宾语+直接宾语（SVID型）
I'll buy him a new watch. She showed me all her pictures.
主语+谓语（及物动词）+宾语+宾语补足语（SVOC型）
We often heard them laugh. John told me to do that again.

两个或多个简单句由连词连接成一句话，该句就为并列句。常见的连接词有and，but，or。

1. and 的用法
And的意思为“和，并且”，表示并列关系，可以连接并列的单词，短语和分句。当有多个并列的单词或短语时，and要放在最后两个单词或短语之间。如果两个分句的主语相同，则第二个分句的主语可以省略。如：
1) We are happy boys and girls.
2) I have a pen, a ruler and three erasers.
3) He stayed at home. He watched the television.
→He stayed at home and watched the television.

or 的意思是“或，还是”，表示选择关系。如果两个分句的主语相同，则第二个分句的主语可以省略。如：
1）You can go or stay.
2）Did you watch TV or listen to the music last night
or 用于否定句或疑问句中连接并列成分，不用and。如:
1）They don’t have meat or fish in the fridge.

3. but 的用法
but的意思是“但是”，表示转折关系，连接两个含义相对或相反的单词，短语或分句。如果两个分句的主语相同，则第二个分句的主语可以省略。如：
1）It is sunny but cold.
2）I borrowed a book, but didn’t read it.
3）The bus stopped, but the passengers didn’t get off.
