Lin Tao, a middle school student, thinks teenagers should be free to play. “Last time I played with my parents around, I was nervous and just couldn’t enjoy myself to the fullest,” Lin says. “And my friend Chen Xiaoxin has similar experiences. Once, he went out to play with his classmates. Everyone felt uncomfortable with his mother’s supervision.”
Wang Min, a mother of a 14-year-old boy, thinks playtime needs supervision. She explains, “People usually say I like to control my kid, but that’s not true. I am just worried that he will get into trouble. Some guys may have a bad influence on him and some games like LARP(剧本杀) may mislead him. He might even get indulged in the stories and can’t get back to real life.
Mr. Ma, a doctor of social studies, says it’s understandable for teenagers to wish for freedom. Free play helps them to be independent. Parents can give them more space. ※ THE SCIENCE OF HUNGER
If you’ve ever been “hungry” — that is so hungry that it makes you angry — you’ll be happy to learn that scientists have begun studying the causes of this unpleasant condition and recommending(推荐) fixes.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina asked some people of hunger to write a story about either their emotions or an average day while others not. After a stress experiment, it turns out that people who had written stories about emotions (and were therefore focused on their feelings) felt less stressed or angry, even if they were hungry.
The takeaway: Being aware of your emotional state reduces(减少) the chance that hunger will destroy your feelings. Mindfulness training can help with that. Of course, if you’re hungry, eating also helps.
※A PHOTO DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY
Taking a photograph each day and posting it online is a popular hobby. To explore how this habit influences health, British scientists conducted researchers by interviewing the creators of online photo journals. Do you have a brother or sister Do you have to share a bedroom with him or her In fact, sharing a bedroom may influence your relationships.
Sharing a bedroom with your brother or sister has good sides. For one, it helps you get a good night’s sleep. If you’re afraid of the dark, you’ll fall asleep more easily with someone else in the room. The same is true if you don’t like being alone. For another, you can develop many important skills. You learn how to give and take so that nobody gets selfish. You also learn how to solve your own problems. These skills can help you create a peaceful environment and a better relationship with your brother or sister.
However, sharing a bedroom with your brother or sister has bad sides. It may influence your sleep. If you’re a light sleeper, the noises he or she makes may keep you awake. 48.例文:
Dear teachers and students,
I am calling on everyone to pay attention to a serious problem. It is reported that the epidemic which broke out in January 2020 has something to do with the killing and selling of wild animals at South China Seafood Market. The reason is simple that some people just want to satisfy their stomachs.
There is no doubt that hunting and killing wild animals has a bad influence. For one thing, wild animals are killed for their fur which causes the imbalance of nature. For another, due to the contact between humans and wild animals, epidemics like SARS and pneumonia may infect humans easily. With the decrease of wild animals, many wild animals are endangered. Worse still, some of them may disappear forever.
I think something must be done to stop this illegal action. First, Nature Reserves are supposed to be built so as to offer more living space to wildlife. Second, be aware that never have wild animals for food as they are part of environment. Third, it is high time that we raised people’s awareness to protect wildlife. In this way, we can build a harmonious society and ensure a sustainable development.
