释·疑难 so. . . that. . . 与so that的用法辨析
so. . . that. . . 意为“如此……以至于……”,引导结果状语从句,so后接形容词或副词,常用于“so+形容词/副词+that从句”,so也可换为such,不同的是such后跟名词或名词短语
so that 意为“以便,为了”,引导目的状语从句,相当于in order that. . . 结构,两者引导的从句大多使用can, be able to等词汇
拓展 (1)so. . . that. . . 引导结果状语从句,可以与too. . . to. . . 或“not+形容词+enough to do sth. ”进行同义句转换。
I am so short that I can’t reach the ceiling.
=I am too short to reach the ceiling.
=I am not tall enough to reach the ceiling. 我太矮了够不到天花板。
(2)如果名词前有many,much,few,little等词修饰时,只能用so而不能用such,这时句式结构为:
①so many/few+可数名词复数+that从句
②so much/little+不可数名词+that从句
(3)so. . . that. . . 句式在修饰可数名词单数时还可以用在下面的句式中: so+形容词+a/an+可数名词单数+that从句。

(1)neither. . . nor. . . 意为“既不……也不……”, 是连词词组, 连接两个相同成分。当连接两个并列主语时, 谓语动词通常与最近的主语在人称和数上保持一致(即就近原则)。
(2)neither. . . nor. . . 的反义词组是not only. . . but also. . . (不但……而且……)或both. . . and. . . (两者都……)。但是both. . . and. . . 连接两个并列主语时, 谓语动词总是用复数。
either. . . or. . . 意为“或者……或者……”,也是在句中连接并列的成分,谓语动词遵循就近原则。
