Analysis of teaching material 本节课是一节听说课,首先通过图文将学生带入“谈论英语学习方法”的情景中,并在语境中输入核心句型“How do you study for a test ”及应答“I study by working with a group.”和重点词汇如:textbook,conversation,aloud,pronunciation,sentence,patient等,并在此基础上引导学生对他人的学习方法做出评价。本课是本单元的第一课时,在整个单元中起着话题导入、帮助学生热身的作用,内容贴近学生生活,课堂任务应侧重于培养学生的语言实践能力。
Analysis of students 学生通过七、八年级的英语学习进入九年级,已经有了一定的英语基础和英语学习能力,有了适合自己的学习方法。但是还有相当一部分学生英语学习基础薄弱,在英语学习中出现这样或那样的困难,对英语学习失去信心和兴趣,其原因就是没有掌握合适的学习方法。怎样才能成为好的学习者?对于这一话题,同学们应该是非常感兴趣。所以,教师在课堂设计时应该通过设计活动和任务,激起学生的学习兴趣,引导学生热情参与,鼓励学生参与语言实践,渗透学法指导并巩固或改善自己的学习方法,形成良好的学习习惯。
Analysis of teaching objectives Language ability 1.学生能熟练掌握下列词汇及短语:textbook,conversation,aloud,pronunciation,sentence, patient,work with friends,ask the teacher for help,read aloud,practice pronunciation. 2.学生能熟练运用目标语言: 1.How do you study for a test /I study by v-ing. 2.Does anyone learn English by watching videos 3.What about listening to tapes 4.It’s too hard to understand spoken English. 5.The more you read, the faster you’ll be.
Learning ability 1.Ss can understand the conversations about learning English that others talk about and give response.
Thinking quality 1.Ss can learn about different learning ways and the results of the ways. 2.Ss can know the importance of the ways of learning English.
Cultural awareness 1.Ss can understand different kinds of ways of learning English . 2.Ss can create an interest in learning English and never give up learning it.
Teaching key and difficult points Talk about the problems in studying English and learn to give advice using the target language. 1.Master the key phrases and structures in the period. 2.Be able to understand the conversation about the ways of learning English .

Step1 Warm up 1.Play a video about learning English. 2.Ask Qs about it. 1.Enjoy the video. 2.Answer the Qs. This activity leads in the topic and creates a learning environment.
Step2 Lead-in 1. Show Ss the picture of 1a 2. Ask Ss questions about the picture: T: What do you usually do when you learn English T: S1 learns English by reading English, How about you,S2 T: ... 1. Observe the picture. 2. Answer the questions. S1: I often read English books. This activity lets students pay attention to the picture and think about the topic of this class. Students can learn some ways of learning English.
Step3 Presentation Present the topic sentences: -- How do you learn English -- I learn English by + V-ing. Think of ways to learn English Practice topic sentences.
step4 Pre-listening Section A 1a Ask Ss to pay attention to the picture and the phrases. Observe the picture and add other ways. Ss remember words and phrases.
Step5 Pre-listening Section A 1b Predicting 1.T asks Ss to pay attention to the ways in the picture . 2.Ask them questions: Which ways of learning are in the picture 1.Observe the picture 2.answer the questions: by making word cards .... Reduce the difficulty while listening
Step6 While-listening Section A 1b Listen and write 1. Ask Ss to pay attention to the instructions. 2. Play the tape. Listen and write. Students practice listening.
Step7 Post-listening Task 1 Listen and repeat 1. Play the tape again 2. Ask Ss to pay attention to the target language: A:How do you study for a test? B: I study by v-ing. 1. Listen and repeat. 2. Pay attention to the target language Students find the target language of this class.
Step8 Post-listening Task 2 Pair work 1.Show Ss the phrase in 1a and target language. 2. Ask a few pairs to share their conversations. 1.Work in pairs 2. Make conversations with “how” 3. Share conversations. Students practice the target language.
