Analysis of teaching material 本节课是本单元的第二课时,3a-3b是本单元的第一个阅读版块。语篇以第一人称讲述了因为对英语电影的喜爱,一名英语学习被动、困难的学生转变为一名主动学习英语并且热爱英语的学生的故事。阅读语篇在训练、发展学生阅读水平的同时,能帮助他们意识到提高学习兴趣和改进学习方法的重要性。活动3a通过提出三个问题,帮助学生掌握文章主要内容;活动3b将语篇内容和本单元的重点语言结构“by十v-ing形式”结合,对作者使用的英语学习法进行梳理。
Analysis of students 经过了本单元第一课时的学习后,学生对学习方法的英语表达有了一定的了解,初步接触了目标语言,基本掌握了“by十动词-ing形式”,能够用这个结构进行简单的表达。但是对于学习过程中出现的问题和具体的改进措施还不能顺利地表达清楚。
Analysis of teaching objectives Language ability 1.学生通过学习,能正确理解本课生词及重点短语: expression, discover, secret, grammar, fall in love with,look up,as well等。 2. 学生能熟练说出本话题的功能句复述课文。
Learning ability 运用阅读技能Skimming快速理解文章大意和运用Scanning快速寻找文章细节信息。
Thinking quality Help a friend deal with the problems he meet in study or life.
Cultural awareness 结合文本的学习,总结学习心得,反思自己的英语学习方法,调整学习的心态,快乐学习。
Teaching key and difficult points 1.学生能运用重点短语:fall in love with,look up,as well等造句。 2.学生能通过skimming and scanning阅读策略获取信息。

step1 Warming up Play a part of the movie called Toy story which is mentioned in the text and ask questions about it. Watch the movie and answer questions. To arouse Ss’ interest and creates a learning environment.
step2 Pre-reading Task1 Ask students if they have any difficulties in learning
English,and then ask others to give some advice.
Give advice to the difficulties. To lead in the topic of reading.
Step3 Pre-reading Task2 Ask Ss to look at the title and picture to answer questions: 1.What do you think the text is about when you read this title
2.What's the girl doing in the picture
3.How do you think the girl who is learning English according to the picture
4.what can we learn from an English movie
Observe the picture and predict the answers . To train Ss a reading skill of predicting and arouse their motivation and interest of learning English.
Step4 while-reading Task1 Ask Ss to catch the main idea by reading the topic sentences of each paragraph. Read and catch the main idea. To develop the skill of skimming of reading for Ss.
Step5 while-reading Task2 Section A 3a 1Ask Ss to read and listen to Paragraph One and answer to the question 1and 2 in 3a. 2.Ask Ss to read Paragraph Two to find the answer to the question 3 in 3a by finding the key word “secret”. Read listen and answer. To develop the skill of scanning of reading for Ss.
Step 6 While-reading Task3 Section A 3b Ask students to read the passage more carefully again,and focus on the details to finish 3b. Read carefully and find out the answers for 3b in groups. To develop the methods of self-dependent learning and cooperative learning.
Step 7 Post-reading Task1 Ask Ss to finish the mind-map of “last year --one day-- now” Finish the mind-map according to the passage in groups. To let Ss master the structure of the passage.
Step 8 Post-reading Task2 Ask Ss to underline phrases and difficulties for them in the passages . Read and underline. To let Ss understand the passage totally.
Step 9 Post-reading Task3 Ask Ss to retell the passage with the help of mind-map and key words. Retell the text. To out -put target language.
Step 10 Make a summary Make a summary about the teaching points of the class. Make sure to understand the points To check Ss if they master learning objectives.
Homework Level A:Ask Ss to write down their problems of learning English and the solutions to the problem. Level B : Review the passage about Wei Fen by drawing a mind-map.
