I’m in trouble. Last week, we had a football match, and we lost. We played well, but one teammate didn’t do his best, I think. It was like he wasn’t even on the court! Disappointed by his behaviour, I said all this to my best friend. But he told everyone else what I’d said. I’m really angry with my friend-what should I say to him And should I say anything at all to my teammate
ReplyThere is an old American saying, “Loose lips sink ships.” This means that if you speak too much about something, especially to people who you don’t know so well, it’ll cause all kinds of trouble. Maybe now you’re in this situation. Forget all these unhappy things.Like 13
ReplyPerhaps most importantly, think about your own behaviour. When filled with anger, you would say whatever comes to your mind. You might hurt others. Take a deep breath, calm down, and always remember: think first, speak later. Like 11
ReplyIn my view(观点), you should do what your parents ask. They’re much older than you and you should respect them. It’s their house you live in and their money you spend!Like 10
ReplyHere’s what you need to do. First, apologise to your teammate. Have a chat with him, and tell him directly and honestly that you were talking without thinking. Then tell your friend you’re angry with him for repeating what you said and making the situation worse, but you hope your friendship will move on.Like 10

Josh Ferrin picked up the keys to their new house in Salt Lake City earlier this week. He was excited to finally have a place his family could call their own. As he walked into the garage, a box caught his eye.
“I felt very surprised and called my wife. She wouldn’t believe what I had found,” said Ferrin, who works as an artist in Salt Lake City.
Then he found seven more boxes, all full of cash. Ferrin quickly took the boxes to his parents’ house to count. Along with his wife, they put thousands of bills on a table. They stopped counting at $40,000, but thought there was at least $5,000 more.
Ferrin thought about how so much money could buy things he never thought he could afford. “I wish I could say there was never any doubt in my mind,” Ferrin said. “But the money wasn’t ours and I don’t believe you get a chance very often to do something honest and that is a lesson I hope to teach to my children.”
He then thought about the home’s previous (先前的) owner, Arnold Bangerter, who died in November and left the house to his son. So Ferrin called Bangerter’s son with the news. Paul Bangerter knew his father hid money away because he once found a roll of cash taped under a drawer in their home, but he never considered his dad had hidden so much over the years.
“He grew up in hard times and people that survived that time didn’t have anything when they came out of it unless they saved it themselves,” said Paul Bangerter. “He was a saver, not a spender.”
“I’m a father, and I worry about the future for my kids,” Ferrin said. “I can see him putting that money away for a rainy day.”

Lisa stood next to her tall silent grandfather and watched her parents drive off, leaving her behind. She looked up at her grandfather. He looked down at her. His skin was a little darker than hers. His hair was black and white, as if it couldn’t decide which color it should be.
“You don’t talk much, Grandpa,” Lisa said.
“You don’t visit much, Lisa,” her grandfather replied.
They stood looking at each other. “Come with me, Lisa,” said Grandpa. He started walking without looking back.
Lisa followed him to a large storehouse.
Lisa remembered her last visit to Grandpa’s. She had played hide-and-seek with her brother Jack in the storehouse. But now Jack needed an operation. Lisa had to stay here alone for a few days.
“You coming ” Grandpa’s voice sounded muffled. His words were coming from inside the storehouse.
Lisa went inside. The storehouse was full of all kinds of things. She could see him in the far corner. Lisa walked over and stood next to him. He pointed to a small wooden box with “Lisa” painted on it in bright green letters.
“Yours,” he said.
Lisa bent down and opened it. In it were some old things—a bright blue feather, a tiny V-shape leaf and some dolls. She looked up at Grandpa, with tears in her eyes.
“The box stays here, but it belonged to you. No one else.” Then he closed his eyes and smiled. His smile reminded Lisa of her father. Grandpa no longer seemed strange and silent.
“I may be so overcapitalized (过剩),” Lisa answered, carefully pronouncing the familiar word.
Grandpa laughed out loud. “How did that eight-year-old brain of yours find its way around a big word like ‘overcapitalized’ ”
“It’s my dad’s favourite word,” Lisa replied.
Grandpa looked down at Lisa and smiled. His smile again reminded Lisa of her father. Without thinking, she reached up and took Grandpa’s hand. Lisa’s hand felt small and safe inside her grandfather’s.
“I might need more than one visit to my box,” Lisa said seriously.
“I expect,” Grandpa said.
