意为“用……覆盖……” 。如:

as 作连词,意为“当……时候”,引导时间状语从句。如:
1. As the candle burns, it uses up oxygen in the air. 当蜡烛燃烧时,它要耗尽空气中的氧气。
As he grew up, he became silent.
他长大以后,变得沉默寡言。
use up 意为“用完;用光”。use up 是动词加副词型短语,宾语是代词时必须放在use和up的中间;宾语是名词时,放在use和up的中间或 up的后面均可。如:
Don't use up all the hot water.
不要用光所有的热水。
(1) 分数的表达方式: 分子为基数词,分母为序数词。并且当分子大于1时,分母要用复数。如:

(2) 带有分数的名词作主语时,谓语动词的单复数,要根据分数所修饰的名词来确定。如果分数所修饰的是可数名词复数,谓语动词用复数形式;如果分数所修饰的是不可数名词,谓语动词用单数形式。如:

3.Mix the cornstarch and water together.

What is happening
Some things dissolve in water. Sugar dissolves in water. Salt dissolves in water. But not cornstarch. It only mixes with water. When you close your hand and press, some of the water gets out. The mud becomes solid. When you open your hand, the water mixes in again. Now it is a liquid!
What else can you do
Put some of the mud in a bowl. Now hit the mud with your open hand. What happens Now do the same thing with water. Are the mud and water the same when you hit them

Points
作形容词,意为“奇异的、极好的、了不起的”,在句中作定语或表语。如:
fantastic
I think this is a fantastic invention. 我想这是一个了不起的发明。
作可数名词,意为“化学物质、化学制品”,复数形式是chemicals。如:
There are no chemicals in this kind of food. 这种食品中没有化学物质。
2. chemical
作形容词,意为“化学的、化学作用的”,在句中作表语或定语。如:
We can find chemical additives in many foods. 我们在很多食品中发现了化学添加剂。
句中的have been drawing 是现在完成进行时,它由“助动词 have (has) + been + 现在分词”构成,当主语是第三人称单数时用助动词has,其他情况用助动词have。现在完成进行时主要表示从过去开始一直持续到现在的动作,这个动作是否延续下去,要根据上下文而定。

它往往与表示一段时间的时间状语连用,如:all the time, this month, all day, these few days, for a year, since a week ago等。

连词both…and…的意思是“……和……都,既……也……”,它可以连接句中句子成分相同的词语,如果用它连接主语时,谓语动词要用复数形式。
