Period 1 introduction+listening
Learning aim
1.Learn some words about neighbourhood, such as suburb, downtown, apartment, six-storey, high-rise buildings, committee, etc.
2.Listen and understand the listening material to introduce one neighbourhood committee and learn some every-day English expressions in it.
Important points
Learn to know what is a neighbourhood about and describe our own neighbourhood.
Learning difficulties
Describe one's own neighbourhood in various sentence patterns but not only one : there is/are...near/aroud ... .
Learning of what is a neighbourhood
Pre-learning
What do we have around our school List them in your groups. We have shops, markets, restaurants, schools, factories, hospitals, parks, hotels, apartment blocks, bus services. It is the neighbourhood around our school.
Group work
Work in groups to talk about either the neighbourhood of our school or the neighbourhood of your own home. You can choose one.
Sentences help:
there be , we have..., ...is built here recently, it is convenient for us to ....as there is.../we have/ ...has just been built...
Independent learning
Read the two passages about two students' homes in the book, then following the examples , write down something about your own home on the lines below.

Learning aim
1.Practise reading ability and get the required information in the reading material through scanning and skimming.
2.Learn the new vocabulary in the text, such as "architecture, gorgeous, district, starve..."and expressions.
3.Learn the grammar -the perfect present tense.
Learning important points
Develop the reading ability ,learn the new vocabulary and grammar of the perfect present tense.
Learning difficulties
Conclude when the perfect present tense should be used and what the adverbials of time are for the tense.

If you show your friend around in Taiyuan, what will you introduce to him and where will you show him around

Read the text again carefully to underline the sentences of the perfect present tense.
Write down the time adverbials and sentence patterns for the tense.

Period 4 culture corner+writing
Learning aim
1.read culture corner to practise reading ability and learn about the trend that villages are disappear in Europe as well.
2.Learn words and expressions such as firstly, secondly,....finally, remain, afford...
3.Practise writing work by adding "and", "but", "so" into sentences.
Important points
1.Reading practice while learning about the village disappearing.
2.Sentences linked by "and, but, so".
Difficulty in learning the period
Talking about the reasons why villages are disappearing and their opinions for that.
