1 Teaching Content
The content of this class is to teach students some strategies of writing about an object.
2 Teaching Plan
1) Analysis of students
The students are in the third year of junior high school. They have already gained some linguistic knowledge for understanding the English text in this lesson. They also have accumulated a certain number of English expressions and they have the ability to use complete sentence to express their opinions. From the perspective of language ability, most students have been able to follow an English online class.
2) Teaching aims
a. Students will know about the writing process.
b. Students will know how to use minds maps to help sorting their ideas.
c. Students will be able to write a logical article by themselves.
3) Important points and difficult points
(1) Important points
a. Students understand and get the key information of the example.
b. Students know about the writing process.
(2) Difficult points
a. Students create their own mind maps to help write articles.
b. Students write about their valuable gifts in proper English.
4) Teaching methods
a. Brainstorm
b. “Task – based” language teaching
5) Teaching aids
1) a computer.
2) a pen.
3) some draft paper.

2. Lead-in Students review the story and get to know about the writing topic. Talk about the gift people usually give on special days. Think about the gifts to give on special days.

Pre-writing 1) Learn about an article on the text book 2) Learn about the writing process. 1) introduce the article 2) ask questions 3) check answers 4) summarize the main idea of the article 5) introduces the 5 steps of the writing process 6) show students how to use a mind map to form the structure of an article 1) read the article silently 2) answer the questions 3) take notes about how to write in 5 steps 4) follow the teacher’s mind map and answer the tip questions on a writing pad
4. While-writing Practice writing 1) remind student to use complete sentences 2) ask students to limit the writing time 1) try to write according to the key questions 2) set a timer to limit the writing time

Post-writing Learn how to revise and edit the article analyze the example and show the structure teach students the tips of revising show students common grammar mistakes show an example and guide students to make corrections call attention to use good expressions listen and watch take notes read and try to correct the grammar mistakes of the example
