Step 1: Revision Watch the short video and review the if-clause. Introduce Karel and review the if-clause. To review the if-clause.
Step 2: Presentation(I) Watch the experiment carefully and think: If you put some salt into water, what happens to it Look at two more examples and answer the questions.Fill in the blanks and work out the rules by themselves. Show an experiment and ask Ss to think carefully.Possible answer: If you put salt into water, it disappears.Show more examples.Guide Ss to work out the rules. To have the students discover the differences of the if conditional adverbial clauses with certain results.
Step 3: More practice Draw lines to match the if-clauses with the results. b. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the given words.c. Remember that we can also put the if-clause after the main clause. Show the exercises and give Ss time to complete.Show the exercises 2 and guide them to tell the reason.c. Remind Ss that we can also put the if-clause after the main clause. To consolidate the tenses are different with different results.
Step 4: Presentation (II) Watch the video carefully and answer the questions: What is the woman doing What will happen to Ron if he doesn’t hurry up Learn the usage of “unless”. Show a short video and ask Ss to answer the question.Help Ss understand the usage of “unless” To learn the usage of “unless” .
Step 5: More practice Draw lines to match the sentences. Make sure the sentences are logical.Rewrite the sentences with unless. Look at the pictures and complete the sentences between mum and Ron in some situations. Show the drawing lines exercises and give Ss time to complete.Show the sentences. Remind Ss to rewrite them with unless.Show the pictures and the key words. Remind Ss to use condional sentences to complete. To let the Ss have a gerneral idea about unless.To consolidate the relation between if-not and unless.To help the Ss use conditional sentences in different situations.
Step 6: Summary Sum up what we have learned in the class. Guide Ss to sum up what we have learned in the class. To sum up and review what we have learned in the class.
Step7: Homework 1. Finish the exercises on Page 105.2. Use conditional sentences to talk about possible actions and its results in your daily life.
