三、阅读理解(本大题共5小题,共10.0分)
A
Humans share Earth with many kinds of wildlife. However, many of our animal and plant friends may not be around for much longer. Every two years, the Living Planet Report, a report by WWF (the World Wildlife Fund), comes out.
According to this year's report given in May, 1 million of Earth's 8 million species(物种) are in danger. It says that populations of animals including mammals(哺乳动物), birds and fish have fallen by 50 percent since 1970.
This is mainly because of human activity, such as climate change, habitat loss(栖息地减少), pollution and hunting.
Humans should take it seriously, Vox Media said. It can make a great difference to us as well. A 2017 study said there was a 75-percent fall in populations of flying insects over 30 years. Insects help plants much, we know. The report also shows that one-fifth of the Amazon rainforest went away in just 50 years.
All over the world, people are cutting down forests, using too much water from rivers and filling oceans with rubbish. Only a quarter of the world's land is now free of human activity. "We need to find ways to meet the needs of our growing population while protecting the environment," the WWF said.

四、阅读判断(本大题共5小题,共10.0分)
As we know, all living things have to eat food. For a man, a tiger, a fish, a bird, or even a worm, food is necessary. Generally speaking, all living things are sure to die without food. In every part of the world, many different kinds of animals share living places and live in communities(群落) together. They are connected in the food chain.
Within the food chain, some living things are producers and some are consumers(消费者). Plants are producers because they use sunlight, soil and other things to make their own food. Animals are consumers because they have to eat other animals or plants.
There are four different kinds of consumers in the animal kingdom. A carnivore is an animal that only eats other animals. A herbivore is an animal that only eats plants. An omnivore is an animal that eats both plants and animals. A scavenger is an animal that eats dead animals.
Look at the picture. It is an example of the food chain. The food chain shows the order in which animals eat each other in a community. In the picture, you can see what animal or plant is food for another animal. A leaf is food for a grasshopper, which then becomes food for a hungry mouse. The mouse is food for a snake. The snake is eaten by an eagle. In this way, all of these animals are connected.
