Learning Objectives: At the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1.learn to use the listening skills during the conversation of an educational exchange. 2.Learn to use falling intonation. 3.Talk about a student’s exchange visit.
Procedures Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Purposes
Step 1: Warming-up Require students to revise the attractions in London by watching the video. The teacher encourages Ss to express the words and sentences they’ve learned. 1.Watch a video about London’s places of interest 2. Discuss the preparations on exchange visit by working in pairs. 1.Lead in the topic and arouse students’ interest. 2.Revise the known words and expressions.
Step 2: Listening Activities Encourage Ss to predict the words in the blanks. Let Ss listen to two conversations and fill in the blanks. Listen to conversations carefully. Fill in the blanks when listening. Have students know the text type, writers’ writing purpose and the background information of the text.
Step 3: Speaking Activities 1. Give Ss some sample sentences read by falling intonation. 2.Let Ss read the conversations and practice them in pairs. 1. Read sentences in fall voice. 2. Do pair work to practice the falling intonation. Guide students to have the capacity of reading in falling intonation.
Step 4: Speak Up The teacher asks Ss to talk about Alice’s experiences in pair. 2.The teacher requires Ss to tell about Alice’s experiences in London by using B1. Students work in groups to look at the lists of B1 and talk about Alice’s experiences in London. 1.Encourage students to put what they have learned into practice. 2. Build students’ understanding of educational exchanges.
Step 5: Self- assessment Lead students to make a self-assessment. Students self-reflect what they have learnt in today’s class. Review what they have learnt today and summarize the class.
Step 6: Homework Share your ideas with your classmates and write them down.
