Step 2 Presentation: Forms (7 min) 1.To help students understand the forms 2. Guide Ss to summarize the rules 1.Ask students to observe and describe the pictures. 2.Guide Ss to master the 3 rules for adjectives with different syllables. 3. Ask Ss to do some related exercise. Step 3 Presentation: Set up the context and the usage (10 min) To help students understand the concept and and use the comparative and superlative of adjectives in different content properly . Introduce David, an e-friend of the teacher. Introduce his first hobby—music, then play the recording and ask Ss to focus on the adjectives in the lyric and the colored word“than”, then elicit Ss to work out the rule. 3.Introduce David’s second hobby—cartoons, then show two of them to guide Ss to master the usage of the comparative and superlative of adjectives. Task- based Q&A; a song recording; picture walk;
Step 4 Practice (10 min) To enable students to consolidate what they have learnt. 1. Introduce David’s third hobby—travel and the destination of this trip-Tyoto, then let Ss watch a video and complete the information. 2. Ask students to help David go shopping before travelling by doing the related exercises in the textbook. A video; exercises in the textbook
Step 5 Production (9 min) Extend the usage and let Ss check how well they learn. 1.Guide students to do the translation and point out these sentence patterns in the mind map are the important . 2.Ask Ss to do a self-check exercise. Mind-map; choice
