Learning objectives:
Learn how to use question tags
Learn about different sentence types.
Important and difficult points:
How to use the verb correctly in the question tag.
How to write exclamations with how and what correctly.
Teaching procedures:
Teach the key grammar terms which will be used in this lesson
Part A question tag
Show students two examples sentences of question tags.
Teach students the structure of a question tag and some examples about it.
Teach students how to write the verbs of the question tags correctly.
Teach students the rules of using the verbs of the question tags.
We should use the right forms of the verbs, such as be verbs, auxiliary verbs like do and have or modal verbs + subject pronouns in the question tags.
The verbs of the question tag should agree with that of the statement.
Lastly, we should use the same tense for the statement and the question tag.
Show students examples of different types of question tags.
Have students do some exercises about different types of questions tags.
Show students some pictures and some incomplete sentences describing those pictures, with the question tags missing, and then ask students to complete those question tags.
Teach students how to answer the question tag.
First tell them the rules which is to answer the questions based on the fact. Then have students do some True or False exercises.
Teach students about some special question tags. And they include the following types:
Imperative with you being the hidden subject
Imperative beginning with let’s
When the statement has negative words, we should use positive verbs in the tags
Have students do some exercises: Show them some pictures and ask them to use their imagination to say something which are question tags.
Part B Sentence types
Use a mind-map to show the four sentence types which are being taught today
Teach the sentence types separately
Statements
Teach students the definition of statements
Give students examples of positive and negative statements
Questions
Tell students we will learn the following questions today: yes/No question, wh-question, alternative question, tag question.
Give students example of each question type.
Imperatives
Teach students the definition of imperatives
Show them example imperatives.
Exclamations (difficult point)
Teach students when to use exclamation and what an exclamation is. Give students two example of exclamations.
How to write an exclamation with how
Teach students the structure of an exclamation with how
Have students to do some exercises: Give them some pictures and ask them to write exclamations with how about the pictures.

Teach students the structure of an exclamation with what
Have students to do some exercises: Give them some pictures and ask them to write exclamations with what about the pictures.
Compare exclamations with how and what
First compare the structures
Then give them pictures and have them make sentences
Elliptical exclamations
Teach students what elliptical exclamations are.
Give them examples of original and elliptical exclamations and let students observe the differences.
Part C Review
Give students a small quiz to help them review what we’ve learned
Part D Homework
Draw a mind-map about today’s grammar lesson.
Give an example of each type.
