Jules Verne (1828-1905), a French novelist, was called the “Father of Science Fiction”. He wrote a widely popular series of science fictions, including Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
About the author
He was born in Nantes, France, and ran away to sea at the age of 11. After he was sent home in disgrace, he vowed to travel only in his imagination. He carried out this pledge in more than 50 works that combine scientific fantasy and exciting adventure.
