The government in Tibet has denied the permanent (永久的) closure of Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve.
The announcement came after a report went viral online claiming the base camp of the world's highest mountain was "permanently closed due to heavy pollution" and caused a universal misunderstanding.
Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve was set up in 1988. Covering an area of more than 33,819 square kilometers, it is home to one of the world's weakest ecosystems (生态系统).
Kelsang, the deputy director of the Reserve Administration, said ordinary tourists were allowed to visit areas around Rongpo Monastery, almost 5,000 meters above sea level. As for travelers who have a climbing permit, they can go to the base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters. The mountaineering activities have been permitted by the regional forestry department.
To conserve the environment surrounding Mount Qomolangma, China carried out three major cleanups at an altitude of 5,200 meters and above last spring, collecting eight tonnes of household wastes, human wastes and mountaineering trash. This year, the clean-up will continue, and the remains of mountaineering victims (受害者) above 8,000 meters will be centrally dealt with for the first time. Meanwhile, the number of people who stay at the base camp will be kept under 300.
Recently, there are 85 wildlife protectors in the reserve, and 1,000 herders have part-time jobs going around and cleaning up garbage.

"Are you going to Seattle " an anxious-looking woman asked a female traveler at the Amtrak Airport in Sacramento. "No, I'm going to Eugene," the traveler replied. "Oh, I was hoping you could watch out for my daughter. She's never been on a plane alone before."
Now, as I am quite a seasoned plane traveler, I know that seats and cars are supplied by the destination. So I came up to the woman and her frightened-looking daughter, telling the woman that her daughter could sit with me and that I would take care of her during the journey.
The plane had arrived 25 minutes late, and people walked in line to get their seats. The conductor wanted to know if there were people traveling together, so I went to the front of the line with the girl and we were arranged to sit next to each other. Once on board, I showed her where to put her package, and took her to the bathroom area. Then we settled down to sleep. In the morning, I showed her the dining room and bought her a drink. She became comfortable enough to do what most 15-year-olds do: talk and text on her mobile phone.
Throughout the trip, I made sure she picked up her ID, which had fallen out of her backpack, and some money, which had fallen into the crack (缝隙) of the reclining seat, and continuously kept an eye on her. I hope someone takes her under their wing when she flies back to Sacramento.
I do hope that kindness will spread around the world through these ways. We're conditioned to think that our lives go on with great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware, beautifully wrapped (包裹) in what others may consider a small one.

4.What is the writer's opinion according to the last paragraph

Lemurs are cute animals that live on the island of Madagascar, the fourth-largest island in the world. Lemurs have big eyes, long noses, and long tails(except for the Indri) and live high in the trees of Madagascan forests. Lemurs are quite intelligent. They are the cousins of monkeys and look quite similar. They also swing through the trees and live in family groups.
There are different species of lemurs. Some lemurs (the Indri) sing like a whale, and some (the Sifaka) walk like a ballet dancer. Some lemurs are very small, like the Pygmy Mouse Lemur which weighs only 25-30 grams. Others, like the Indri, can weigh up to ten kilograms. Some lemurs are nocturnal, being awake at night and sleeping during the day, and some are not nocturnal but diurnal. Generally, the smaller lemurs are nocturnal, while the bigger ones are diurnal. All the species are unique to Madagascar.
However, all of the lemurs are endangered species. Many species have already disappeared in the last few centuries. There are not many of lemurs left. People in Madagascar have been destroying the forests where lemurs live. Local people also hunt lemurs for food. Some of the local people see lemurs as bringers of bad luck, so they kill lemurs.

With time going on, dogs have developed a special relationship with people. Recently, however, some dogs have taken a different role in people’s lives—therapy dogs.
1 Some therapy dogs visit patients in hospitals or nursing homes, while others visit children in schools and libraries. They are there to help children become better readers.
Reading programs that use therapy dogs have been in existence for more than ten years. All therapy dogs of these programs are registered with an organization that tests the dogs to make sure they have the right personality for the job.
2 Both the dogs and the handlers are volunteers with the reading program.
At the start of a reading therapy session, a child and a clog are introduced. The pair are allowed to settle down in a quiet comer together. 3 An adult handler stays nearby but generally lets the dog perform its job without being interrupted. Sometimes, a handler may ask a question that encourages the child to work with the dog to help the child feel more comfortable.
Not every child will be able to be part of a reading therapy program that uses dogs. A few children might be allergic to dogs or afraid of them; some children might have cultural traditions that prevent them from touching a dog. 4 .
Reading therapy programs inspire people to learn and change. The readers benefit a lot, gaining confidence and learning that reading aloud can be a relaxing experience.
5 They spend time with human friends. For dogs that love human companionship and a quiet place to rest, being part of a reading therapy program can be a great way to spend a few hours being with humans each day.
A.But how do the therapy dogs benefit from it
B.But therapy animals also serve in many other areas.
C.As the child reads, the dog usually lies quietly and listens.
D.When reading to an animal, some children may become relaxed.
E.In these circumstances, other animals are available, such as cats and parrots.
F.A therapy dog is more of a companion and is trained to help people in different ways.
G.A dog’s handler also takes a class and must pass a test to work in the therapy program.

How are you These days, I am planning to travel abroad during the vacation. I think travelling abroad is very meaningful. First, travelling abroad can broaden my horizon. When I visit a foreign country, I can learn more about the customs and history of the country. At the same time, I can make lots of friends. Besides, communicating with the local people will give me the chance to learn a foreign language. The most important thing is that I can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Michael, please come to China when you are free. I do hope you can witness the great changes in China.
Yours truly,
Li Hua
