If you are a teenager without a job, you probably do not have much extra money. Sometimes parents will give their children a weekly pocket money for doing small housework, but it is often not enough once the children grow into teenagers and want to do things with their friends all of the time. How to make money is an important thing for teens to learn. If you're wondering how a teenager can make good money, some ideas might be:
Getting a part-time job at a local restaurant or store is always a sure way to make money as a teen. But getting a job somewhere like this might be hard, considering many jobs in local stores are being taken by adults more and more often. Babysitting is always a good way to make money as a teenager, and finding jobs as a babysitter is often easier than finding a job at a store.
Doing landscaping(绿化) is something that most adults do not like to do, and teens can usually find jobs around their neighbourhood doing the landscaping of friends and family.
Some teens are good at something such as writing or photography. These teens can make money by doing things such as writing articles for newspapers or magazines or selling their photos online.
Teens who live in a country area can earn money by helping out on farms, or they can try raising their own animals such as chickens, and selling them or their products.
Looking for jobs can seem hard at first, but if you have a try, it should not be too hard to find a job or way to make money.

A crew(全体船员)of six teenage girls completed a nine-day sailing trip in the US recently, after braving seasickness and strong winds.
For the past three years, the Sea Cadet teenagers who set sail were all male. Roger Noakes, who captained(担任队长)the boat, said this was the first time he'd taken out an all-female crew.
The girls asked for an all-girls trip in August this year. The crew set sail along with three adults, Noakes and two Sea Cadet representatives. The original plan was for the girls lo sail 24 hours a day in rotating shifts(轮流换班)along the coast and then return. Things turned out differently, however. "The first night was difficult because the wind was really hard. The waves were going up and down," said Abby Fairchild, 16. "Everybody got seasick." Noakes gave the girls the choice of just sailing in the bay and not going into open water. "But they decided they were going."
The teenagers then sailed a long way overnight and slept in shifts. "We're learned everything from controlling the boat to putting up the sails while we have rough seas," said 15-year-old Olivia Wilcox.
The teenagers stopped on land in Massachusetts. They didn't make it to their original destination (目的地) in Maine, where they were supposed to have a celebratory dinnert due to the weather and winds. They said they weren't disappointed, however, as they'd learned a lot. "They learned about boating, and above all, they built confidence and character," said Noakes.

Some students get so nervous before a test. They do poorly even if they know the materials. Sian Beilock, a professor at the University of Chicago in Illinois, has studied these highly anxious test-takers. The students start worrying about the results. And when we worry, it actually uses up attention and memory resources(资源).
Professor Beilock and another researcher, Gerardo Ramirez, have developed a possible solution. Just before an exam, highly anxious test-takers spend ten minutes writing about their worries about the test.
The researchers tested the idea on a group of twenty anxious college students. They gave them two short maths tests. After the first one, they asked the students to either sit quietly or write about their feelings about the upcoming second test.
Professor Beilock says those who sat quietly scored(得分) an average of 12% worse on the second test. But the students who had written about their fears improved(提高) their performance by an average of 5%. Next, the researchers used younger students in a biology class. They told them before final exams either to write about their feelings or to think about things unrelated(不相关的) to the test. Professor Beilock says highly anxious students who did the writing got an average grade of B+, compared to a B- for those who did not.
"What we showed is that for students who are highly test-anxious, and who'd done our writing intervention(干预), all of a sudden there was no relationship between test anxiety and grades. They were performing just as well as their classmates who don't normally get nervous in these tests."
But what if students do not have a chance to write about their fears immediately before an exam Professor Beilock says students can try it themselves at home or in the library and still improve their performance.
1.What do the students start worrying about before an exam
A.Whether they can pass the exams.
B.What other students do during the test.
C.Whether they have remembered the materials.
D.What kind of problems they will meet on the test paper.
2.What is the solution developed by researchers
A.Making the students focused on the test.
B.Asking the students to sit quietly before the test.
C.Having the students write about their worries about the test.
D.Asking the students to direct the attention away from the test.
3.According to Professor Beilock, those who thought about things unrelated to the test _____.
A.became less nervous before the test
B.were better at controlling their feelings
C.did worse than those who wrote about their feelings
D.did better than those who wrote about their feelings
4.We can infer from the last paragraph that _____.
A.writing about our worries before an exam can work a bit
B.we can only write about our worries right before an exam
C.the best place to write about our worries is in the test room
D.it doesn't matter where we write about our worries before an exam

Jenny was the only child in her home. She had a quarrel with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. She couldn't help weeping sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding from her mother.
Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and wished for something to eat, but it was not even possible for her, since she had nothing with her. She stood beside a stand for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no money in hand, she sighed and had to leave.
The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, "Hey, girl, you want to have the noodles "
"Oh, yes… but I don't have money on me…" she replied.
"That's nothing. I'll treat you today," said the man. "Come in."
The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently.
"What is it " asked the man kindly.
"Nothing, actually I was just touched by your kindness!" said Jenny as she wiped her tears. "Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother, drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!"
Hearing the words, the seller smiled, "Girl, do you really think so I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you number the times she cooked for you Have you expressed your gratitude to her "
Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock; she remembered mother's familiar face and weathered hands. "Why did I not think of that A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel indebted, but I have never thanked my mum for what she has done for me."
On the way home, Jenny made up her mind to make an apology to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home.

It was only around three in the afiternoon 可知,在家里工作的作者下午大约3点才能够工作,那么其他时间应该是 "整理家务", homework 家庭作业; exercise 锻炼; housework 家务; cleaning 清洁(属于家务的一部分). 故选C.
7.根据上文中的 "I'd also be doing a lot of housework" 可知,作者在家里也会忙着做许多家务,因此在下午3点左右的时候才终于(finally)得空来工作. luckily 幸运地; gradually 逐渐地; instantly 立刻,马上.
8.根据上文可知,作者要忙着做很多家务,因此用来工作的时间就弥足珍贵(valuable)了. anxious 焦虑的; busy忙碌的; rare稀少的.
9.根据上句 Then she'd come from school. 可知,女儿放学回家,作者想要与她谈谈,结合空前的call,可知此处为"过来"的意思.故选D.

Dear John,
I am really sorry to hear that you feel bad after entering high school. I'd like to talk about it with you.
In fact, in your high school, your classmates are also new students and facing the same problem, so you don't have to worry too much about it. There is also something that you can do to change this situation. First, try to invite some of your classmates to take part in some activities together after school. This will help you understand each other better. Then, help your classmates when they are in trouble and turn to them for help when you have difficulty.
I believe you will make many new friends and have a happy school life there.
Yours,
Li Hua

"Where could my mother be " she wondered. "Was she still angry with me " Again, the scene of the quarrel appeared in her mind. She remembered her rudeness to her mother. Hearing this, her mother smiled patting her back gently.
