Penang is a Malaysian (马来西亚的) state
located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait(马六甲海峡). It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city, George Town is located on the Malay Peninsula (马来半岛).
Penang Hill covers a number of hills, with the highest point at Western Hill which is 833 m (2,733 ft) above sea level. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera (升旗山), which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak.

我想知道过去这儿的生活是什么样的。
wonder在此作及物动词，“想知道；琢磨”，相当于want to know。常见用法：后接 who, what, why, where 等引导的宾语从句。
例：我想知道她是谁。

我想知道该做什么。
wonder后接that引导的宾语从句, 表示“感到惊奇; 对……感到惊讶”, that常可省去。
wonder的其它用法：
例：她居然赢得比赛，我感到很吃惊。
I wonder (that) she has won the race.
后接 if 或 whether引导的宾语从句，常用来表示一种委婉的请求或疑问。
后接动词不定式短语，表示“感到惊奇；对……
感到惊讶”。

例：我想知道我能否来。

例：看到你在那里，我感到惊讶。
5. What a difference a day makes! 多么不同的一天啊！
由what引导的感叹句。结构：What+单数可数名词（词组）+主语+谓语！此句式所强调的成分是what后面的名词。
例：多么漂亮的房子啊！
What a beautiful house!
多么可惜呀！

6. because与because of 的用法区别：
because 和 because of 的意思都是“ 因为 ”， 但是because 是连词，其后接句子；
because of 是复合介词，其后接名词、动名词和代词。
我没有买是因为它太贵了。
