Teaching Procedures:
Part I: revision
Step one: ask the whole class to recite each sentence and say what the words marked mean
Step two: explain word formation.
Part II : exercise
Task: to consolidate the use of word formation.
Directions:
Step one: ask three ss. to read the dialog.
Step two: ask the whole class whether the students have got the right answer. It there is any mistake, encourage the students to correct their answer at once.
Step three: check the answers with the whole class.
Step four: stimulate the ss. to think of more word formed by the words in Box A and Box B and their meanings.
Part III: speaking
1. Task: exercise
Directions:
Step one: ask the ss. to finish the exercise individually.
Step two: one student says his/her answer. Check the answer.
Step three: another five students show their answers.
Step four: encourage the ss. to think of more words with the same endings as the words they have written.
Step five: ask the ss. to compare their words with their partners.
Step six: ss. volunteer to show as many words as they can think of. Say their meaning.
Step seven: check the answer with the whole class.
2. .Task: reading and speaking
Directions:
Step one: ask the ss. to look at the pictures and answer the questions individually.
Step two: ss. fall in groups to discuss their answers.
Step three: ask one member in one group to say their answer. Check the answer.
Part IV : discussion
1. Task: learn to show opinions.
Step one: ask the ss. to discuss the questions in Exercise 4 in their groups.
Step two: ask any one in a group to talk about their answer after discussion.
Step three: every group takes turns to present their answers.
Part V: listening
Directions:
Step one: ask the ss. to listen and complete the notes about Adam’s trip on Exercise 5.
Step two: ss. show their answers. Check the answer.
Step three: ask the ss. to work in their original groups and discuss if they are Adam, how they will change the plan.
Step four: choose any two groups to show their changes.
Part V: reading and practising
Directions:
Step one: ask the ss. to read the passage and match the photos and the paragraphs and match the headings with the paragraphs.
Step two: ss. fall in groups and have a discussion about their answers.
Step three: ask the ss. to choose the best answer on Exercise 8.
Step four: students volunteer to answer the questions.
Step five: check the answers with the whole class.
Step six: ask them to read the text in Around the World.
Step seven: ask one or two students to retell the story.
Part VI: writing
Directions:
Step one: ask the ss. to think about their life in the future and make notes about the things listed on the book.
Step two: ask the ss. to use their notes and write sentences.
Step three: ask the ss. to exchange their writings with their partner to find mistakes and errors in the sentences.
Step four: Pair work: ss. discuss with their partners about the mistakes and errors in the sentences and try to correct them.
Part VII homework
Write a composition about their plans for the future.
