(1) not always意为“不一定总是;未必总是”。当not与 always, both, all, everyone, everything等词连用时,表示部分否定。
如:有钱人不一定总是幸福的。Those who have lots of money are ________________.

(2) spoken English意为________;written English意为__________。
如:我并非总是能听懂英语口语。I can’t always understand ______________.

(1)本句中 how to increase my reading speed 为“疑问词+动词不定式”结构,在句中作know的宾语。疑问代词who,what,which 等和疑问副词when,where,how等后面跟不定式,构成”疑问词+动词不定式 “结构。这种结构在句中可作主语、宾语、表语等,作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式。
如:如何处理它仍然是一个问题。_________________ is still a question.
我不知道晚餐吃什么。I don’t know ____________ for dinner.
问题是选择哪一个。The question is _______________.
【拓展】当宾语从句的主语和主句的主语相同,且主句的谓语动词是hope,wish,decide,agree,choose,know,remember,forget,learn等时,从句可简化为不定式结构。
如:I hope that I can receive your letter. (改同义句)

(2) increase动词,意为“增加;增长”,既可作及物动词,也可作不及物动词。increase by… 意为“增长了…”,by后常跟百分数、倍数等,表示增幅。increase to…… 意为 “增长到…”,to后常跟具体的数字。
如:铁产量增加到一亿两千万吨,这意味着它增长了20%。

动词不定式(短语)作定语修饰名词或代词时,通常放在所修饰词的后面,一般与所修饰词存在逻辑上的动宾关系。
如果不定式中的动词是不及物动词,或者不定式所修饰的名词或代词是不定式中动作发生的地点或借助的工具等,不定式后要用适当的介词,并且介词不能省略。
