Xu Xiake
Which explorers do you know in Chinese history
Xu Xiake(1587—1641), was a Chinese travel writer and geographer of the Ming Dynasty known best for his famous geographical diaries noted for his bravery and humility(谦逊). He traveled throughout China for more than 30 years, documenting his travels which would be compiled into the "The Travel Diaries Xu Xiake". Xu's writing used narrative and prose(散文)styles of writing to portray one's travel experiences.

During his jurneys, he often went without food for days and suffered bad weather, illness, dangerous animals and even robbers.

Roald Amundsen (1872 – 1928) was a Norwegian explorer and a key figure in the heroic age of Antarctic exploration. His Antarctic expedition of 1910-12 discovered the South Pole. In 1926, he led the first successful expedition to reach the North Pole. He also made the first voyage through the Northwest Passage.
James Cook (1728 – 1779) was a British explorer who made groundbreaking voyages to the Pacific Ocean. He made the first European contact with Eastern coast of Australia and he chartered the islands of the Pacific from New Zealand to Hawaii.
Zheng He (1371–1433 or 1435) was a Chinese admiral and explorer who led several voyages around the Indian Ocean. Today, Zheng He is considered something of a folk hero, with temples in his honor throughout Southeast Asia.
