Period 3 Developing ideas
教学设计
In this period, the text reflects the theme of this unit from another angle. The reading material covers a summarized account of the adventure story and adaption from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. Reading activities will help the students learn about the features of science fiction stimulate their the curiosity to explore the unknown world.
In the writing part, the students are expected to read a poster about undersea adventure and master the writing methods of adventure experiences with the writing help.
1. Guide the students to develop the ability to catch the key words, the topic sentence of each paragraph and the drift of the articles.
2. Guide the students to master the skills of inferring new words and the author's writing intention.
3. Help students further deepen their understanding of the unit theme and master the writing method so as to write a diary entry about his or her adventure.
1. To train the students’ ability of interring unfamiliar words and the author's writing intention.
2. To help the students quickly find out the topic sentences of each paragraph and guess the development of story plots.
3. To master the method of writing a adventure experience with the writing help.

1. Learn about a French writer called Jules Verne and his most famous fictions.
2. Share what you have learned about Verne’s fiction --Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

2. According to the topic sentence, the students infer the author’s intention.
