Cala de Algaiarens, Minorea

What are American high schools like Well, I'm happy to tell you what I know.
When I started school here, it had already been a week since the school opened. At this school, freshmen(新生) usually go on a trip for about three days at the beginning of school. Unfortunately I missed that wonderful trip, which would have been the best time to get to know my classmates. I was really sad. I wished I'd known about it earlier.
Despite the disappointment, however, I gradually adapted to my new life and school. There is a space in the basement(地下室) of the teaching building where students chat and meet each other. As we do not always have the same classrooms and classmates, the school wants us to get to know each other there. Students usually come to school early, sit in that space and have fun. Around the space, there are many lockers(有锁储物柜) for students to leave their books in, so that students do not have to carry a heavy schoolbag everywhere.
It really surprises me that we have almost no textbooks. We only have textbooks for World History and Algebra and they are big and heavy, like bricks(砖). For other classes, we only need binders (活页夹) with paper in them. Without textbooks, students learn things freely and actively. For example, my humanities teacher just teaches us what is in her mind at the time. We never know what we will learn.
Another difference between American schools and Chinese schools is that American schools care about students' morality (道德) more than their academic(学术的) studies. For example, if you do not finish your homework, you will just be asked to do it later, but if you cheat or lie, you will get a warning or even be kicked out.
I think that most students here are good at schoolwork as well, but compared to Chinese students, they can make learning a more joyful experience. I think we should take the good points from our two different kinds of education to perfect our approach to studying.
24.What made the writer sad at the beginning
A.Being late for school. B.Not knowing anyone.
C.Being looked down upon. D.Missing the chance of the trip.
25.Students go to the basement of the teaching building to ________.
A.have a free talk B.attend class
C.meet teachers D.share a classroom
26.How did the writer feel when he began his lessons
A.Happy. B.Surprised. C.Unsatisfied. D.Lonely.
27.What might stop a student's schooling(学校教育) in American schools
A.Not studying hard. B.Cheating.
C.Not finishing homework. D.Failing in the exam.

Mac Carter, a British father of 14-year-old Ben who has autism(自闭症),searched on the Internet to find a specific kind of little blue cup for his son.
When Ben was two, Mac gave him a little blue cup that was made in China and ever since the cup has become one of the most important things in Ben's life. Ben became dependent on this cup because ever since he received the gift he would only drink water from the exact type of little blue cup. Over 12 years, Ben refused to drink water without the cup. “Jackson, I love you. But you may be the messiest(脏乱的) boy in the world,” Jackson's mother said as she placed a pile(一堆) of clean clothes on his already crowded dresser(梳妆台).
“Remember, a place for everything, and everything in its place.” “Okay. I will. Thanks for washing them.”
After his mom left the room, Jackson looked around. He didn't understand his mom sometimes. His room wasn't that messy! Sure, there was something on the floor, on top of the dresser, and under his bed, but he could still walk around without stepping on something mostly.
He pulled on a baseball cap and left the room. It was a beautiful summer day. He rode his bike through the yard and toward the road. They lived in the country and didn't get much traffic. Still, he always looked both ways to be sure no car was coming. Far down the road, he could see someone riding a bike. Who was that Then he saw the bright blonde(金黄色的) hair and he knew Lily, A very beautiful girl! They rode the same bus, sat in the same class, lived only a few houses apart, but still Jackson had never talked to her. Ever! Today would be the day!
He looked down at his jeans. They were dirty and the knees were green from playing in the grass. His shirt was even worse! Jackson turned his bike and rode as fast as he could back to the house.
He ran through the door, and up the stairs to his room. He pulled on clean clothes and then looked into the dresser mirror. His hair poked out(伸出)from under the baseball cap. He pulled the cap off and ran his fingers through his hair. It looked even worse now.

【原文】OK, so my friends, they convinced me to go on this hiking trip through the mountains. Eight of us, we were going to go for a week, hiking through the mountains, backpacking, carrying all the equipment on us, so that we could camp out and cook over a fire and everything. We ended up camping out every single night. Two of the nights were really nice. The sky was so clear that you could see all the stars. It was warm, and it was beautiful. But on the second night, we had a huge rainstorm. It scared us to death. You know, we were out there in the middle of nowhere, and we were wet and scared, but it was OK, because the next day was warm, sunny, and all of our stuff got to dry out, so it worked out OK. We covered about 200 miles in one week. We were really moving.
Dear Jim,
I’m glad to hear that you’re interested in garbage classification in Beijing. I am writing to introduce it to you.
Garbage classification has lots of benefits. Not only is it beneficial to people’s living environment but also it helps us make good use of the limited natural resources.
For that, Beijing has made a policy on garbage classification, which is warmly welcomed. Most families in our community buy garbage cans based on the four main categories: recyclables, kitchen waste, harmful waste and other waste, and sort them carefully before taking them outside. Besides, volunteers stand by the garbage area to help residents put the different kinds of garbage into the right cans. What’s more, to encourage more people to take part in this activity, the community give some rewards such as green plants/greenery to those who do well in garbage classification at the end of each month.
I find it important and worthwhile to classify waste. As members of the global village, we should love and protect our environment. I will continue learning to make my hometown a better place. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Best wishes,
Yours,
Li Hua
【答案】One possible version:
“My comb!” Jackson searched the top of his dresser. But it wasn't there! He looked under his bed for the comb: nothing but parts of his racetrack, some dirty socks and his old football. He ran around his room to look for it, slipped, and fell on the floor, banging his knee. “Ouch!” he yelled. Jackson rubbed his sore knee as he got up and then ran toward the door. Just before he reached it, he stepped on something and fell hard.
His face hit the floor and he felt pain in his lip. A small drop of blood was on his finger. He was so angry with himself, because he could not go out there and talk to Lily for the first time ever with a bloody lip. He stayed on the floor. After a few minutes, he rolled on to his side. As he did, he could see his comb under the dresser. He remembered his mom saying, “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” His mom was right. He stood up slowly. Maybe he would go for a bike ride later. Right now he was going to clean his room.
