1. 直接位于句首做主语, 表示某个抽象的、泛指的动作。
如:Swimming is a good sport in summer.

动词不定式也可以做主语,不定式作主语一般表示某个特定的、比较具体的动作

2. 用 it 作形式主语,把-ing form (真实主语)置于后面作后置主语。
动名词做主语时,不太常用 it 作先行主语,主要用在句型It is +表示否定的形容词(-less)或名词(no good, no use, a waste of time, fun)中。

5. -ing form的复合结构作主语
-ing form的复合结构在句中作主语,当 -ing form有自己的逻辑主语时,常可以在前面加上一个名词所有格,形容词性物主代词或人称代词的宾格,构成 -ing form复合结构。例如:
Their coming to help was a great encouragement to us.他们来帮忙对我们是莫大的鼓励。

-ing form 的完成式和被动式
-ing form的完成式为having done,完成式表示的动作发生在谓语动词动作之前,有时完成式表示的动作是谓语动词表示动作的原因。
