Teaching name: How do you travel
Teaching aims:1. Students can use the key words and phases: transportation hometown seldom rapid Britain my favourite type/kind of transportation go almost anywhere What/How about doing... go to other cities be across the ocean from...to... It takes sb sometime to do sth
2. Encourage the students to talk about the transportation in their own words
3 . Let students be interested in the English expressions of describing the ways of travelling.
Important points: 1.Master the key words phases and important points of this lesson. 2.Express many different ways of transportation.
Difficult points : Students can describe many different ways of travelling in their own words.
Teaching methods: drilling, “Task-based” teaching
Teaching preparation: electric medium , the CD player, ppt
Teaching procedures :
Step 1 Warming up:
Let students listen to an English song about transportation .
Step 2 Presentation:
1. Leading in: Ask two students to lead all the students to read the vocabularies of this lesson, and present some pictures of transportation and ask students to guess the English meaning of each picture , then ask them “How do you travel ” and lead them to read the title.
2. Learning:
(1) I divide the students into 5 groups, give each group a different question according to the text, let them listen to the tape and answer the questions.
(There are two teams in the whole class, each team can get apples, at last the winner can get the most apples.)
(2) Let students read after the tape and fill in the blanks of the five sentences,after they fill all the blanks, I teach them the key word “ seldom” .
(3)Let students read after the tape and find out the phrases in the text: my favourite type/kind of transportation go almost anywhere What/How about doing... go to other cities be across the ocean from...to... It takes sb sometime to do sth
Students must work in groups and discuss the phrases in the text. And make each group show their results of discussion ,they will get “apples”. Then I say the details of the important phrases.
(4) Let them speak out the phrases and learn, and then play a game that speaking out the phrases in English and Chinese as quickly as they can, they can get the apples.
(5) Lead them to look at many pictures of different transportation and let them speak out the phrases.
(6) In ppt I present some Chinese sentences and ask Ss’ to translate into English.
(7)I teach the details of the text, students learn the language points of this lesson and make sentences according to the knowledge.
(8) I give five questions to the five groups and let them discuss accroding to the text and lead them to show the answers.
Step 3: Practice:
I give them the exercise and let them do the exercise in groups.
Step 4:Consolidation
Listen and read the key words and sentences about Lesson 15 again.
Step 5:Homework
(1) Do the "day by day " exercise.
(2) Writing: My favourite transportation
Reflection:
In this lesson , most students can master key words and phrases. I use Task-based teaching to let them finish the task by practicing and acting in order to make a good understanding of the sentences. But I see there are still some students who aren’t willing to speak out English. So I think I should use more ways to arose their interests about English sentences.
