Last July, my parents and I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Seattle, a city on the northwest American coast. Dad did some research and had no difficulty in finding us cheap tickets online.
On the day of our flight (飞行),we had to wake up very early. When we checked our bags in, we found that one bag weighed too much,so we had to pay a fine(罚款).After that, Dad insisted that we go and have some breakfast at the airport restaurant. We had a lot of fun watching many different people there. Then we realized it was getting late, so we rushed to the gate. It took one hour for everyone to get on the plane, but finally the door was shut and we were on our way!
I think what I liked most during our trip was our visit to Mount Rainier, which was near Seattle.
It was nothing like I had expected. Before we left, my aunt lent us hats to protect us from getting sunburned, so I sup-posed that it would be very hot. Imagine my surprise when we drove up the mountain and I discovered the top was covered in snow and ice!
My uncle led us to a small path beyond the main road to increase our chances of seeing wildlife. We walked over a small hill, and suddenly be-fore us there appeared a field of snow. Small wild flowers grew up through the snow; under the snow we could hear rushing water-a small stream. Little animals stood still to avoid being noticed; tiny birds rose into the air. It was the most beautiful sight that I'd ever seen.
Why did they have to pay a fine ( )
Because they got up late.
Because they didn't wait in line.
Because one of their bags was overweight.
Because they came to the airport late.
What was the author's favorite experience ( )
The flight to Seattle.
The visit to Mount Rainier.
The breakfast in the airport.
The discovery of a small stream.
Why did they choose a small path instead of the main road ( ) A.To avoid the snowy road.
To enjoy more of the wildlife.
To take a shortcut to save time.
To avoid being attacked by animals.
C
Many animals recognize their food because they see it. So do humans. When you see an apple or a piece of chocolate you know that these are things you can eat. You can also use other senses when you choose your food. You may like it because it smells good or because it tastes good. You may dislike some types of food because they do not look, smell or taste very nice. Different animals use different senses to find and choose their food. A few animals depend on only one of their senses, while most animals use more than one sense.
Although there are many different types of food, some animals spend their lives eating only one type. The giant panda eats only one particular type of bamboo. Other animals eat only one type of food even when given the choice. A kind of white butterfly will stay on the leaves of a cabbage, even though there are plenty of other vegetables in the garden. However, most animals have a more varied diet. The bear eats fruits and fish. The fox eats small animals, birds and fruits. The diet of these animals will be different depending on the season.
Humans have a very varied diet. We often eat food because we like it and not because it is good for us. In countries such as France and Britain, people eat foods with too much sugar. This makes them overweight, which is bad for their health. Eating too much red meat and animal products, such as butter, can also be bad for the health. Choosing the right food, therefore, has become an area of study in modern life.
Which of the following eats only one type of food ( )
A white butterfly B.small bird.
The bear. D. The fox.
Certain animals change their choice of food when
the season changes
the food color changes
they move to different places
they are attracted by different smells
We can learn from the last paragraph that
food is chosen for a good reason
French and British food is good
some people have few choices of food
some people care little about healthy diet
What will most probably be talked about in the next paragraph
Why choosing the right food is important.
How to choose the right food.
The right amount of food for a person.
Vegetables matter more than meat and sugar.
D
There are several ways from which to choose for you to keep your kid safe in your neighborhood. But the first step to keep your child safe in your neighbourhood is to know your neighbors.
Knowing your neighbors can save you a lot of worry. It lets you know that the car that has just driven down the street belongs to “the yellow house on the corner", or the truck that has just driven by the play-ground looks unfamiliar, but the guy in the passenger seat lives two doors down. It’s these simple things that keep you from going out of your mind whenever you see someone driving
by where children are playing.
But you shouldn't just know what they look like. The next step is to know them well. What do they do How do they act You might be OK with them driving by the playground since they live in the neighborhood, but are you OK with them being on the playground Knowing your neighbors helps with several things. First you find out what kind of people they are. This helps you know if you should let your child go out in an area that they gather. Let's face it:you don't want your child to play around people or people's children that curse (咒骂) or hit each other. Sometimes you have to protect your child against your own neighbors.
Knowing them also makes them know you. Being neighbors is an interesting thing. You might not like them or have the same views as them, but we all usually protect those that we consider our own. If you know your neighbors, they know you. They will more probably look after the child of the nice lady/down the street in the brick house, than the people in the house on the corner that no one ever sees.
This text is mainly to tell us how to .
keep your child safe in the neighborhood
set a good example to your neighbors
get along with your neighbors
teach your child to protect himself
The underlined phrase "going out of your mind" in paragraph 2 probably means “ ”
A. becoming very excited B. becoming very worried
C. becoming very sad D. becoming very relaxed
From the third paragraph we can know that .
it is important for you to be polite to your neighbors
people in the same neighborhood are quite different
people like enjoying themselves on the playground D knowing your neighbors helps to keep your kids safe
The neighbors would like to look after your kid if .
they are often encouraged
you are getting on well with them
you are the one nobody knows
they think you are a beautiful lady

I am a wolf. The forest was my home. I lived there and I cared about it. I tried to keep it neat and clean.
Then one sunny day, while I was cleaning up some garbage a campe(r 露营者)had left behind,
I heard footsteps. I leaped behind a tree and saw a rather plain little girl coming down the trail carrying a basket. I was suspicious of this little girl right away because she was dressed funny —all in red, and her head covered up so it seemed like she didn't want people to know who she was.
Naturally, I stopped to check her out. She gave me a song sand dance about going to her grandmother's house with a basket of lunch. She appeared to be a basically honest person, but she was in my forest and she certainly looked suspicious with that strange clothes of hers. So I decided to teach her just how serious it is to prance(腾跃;欢跃)through the forest unannounced and dressed funny.
I let her go on her way, but I ran ahead to her grandmother's house. When I saw that nice old woman, I explained my problem, and she agreed that her granddaughter needed to learn a lesson, all right. The old woman agreed to stay out of sight until I called her. Actually, she hid under the bed.
When the girl arrived, I invited her into the bedroom where I was in the bed, dressed like the grandmother. The girl came in all rosy-checked and said something nasty(肮脏的)about my big ears and made another insulting crack about my bulging(膨胀的)eyes. Now you can see how I was beginning to feel about this girl who put on such a nice front, but was apparently a very nasty person. Still,I've made it a policy to turn the other cheek,so I told her that my big eyes helped me to see her better.

读后续写
One possible version:
Now,let's face it: no wolf would ever eat a little girl, but that crazy girl started
running around the house screaming. I'd taken off the clothes of her grandmother, but
that only seemed to make it worse. And all of a sudden the door came crashing open
and a big lumberjack(伐木工人)was standing there with his axe in his hand. I looked
at him,but he glared at me. It became clear that I was in trouble. There was an open
window behind me and out I went into the forest.
I'd like to say that was the end of the matter. But that grandmother character never
did tell my side of the story. Before long the word got around that I was mean and
nasty. Everybody started avoiding me. I don't know about that little girl with the
funny red outfit, but I didn't live happily after that. I am a wolf, but I never hurt
anybody. I just want to do my part to keep my home, the forest,a nice place to live in. I
hope everybody can treat me fairly.
