Teaching aims:

Teaching steps:
Step 1 Lead in
T: (1) When we are having a lesson, what should we do? (We should listen carefully.)
(2) What should we do if the baby is sleeping? (We should talk quietly.)
(3) How should we talk to old people? (We should talk to them politely.)

Step 4 Questionnaire
Invite the students to fill in the questionnaire in Part A, on Page 28. Then go through the quesitons one by one and focus on what they like or dislike about their school. Organize a discussion and encourage the students to speak as many proper reasons as possible.
When the students are talking about what they like and dislike about their school. Ask them about their ideal school. Encourage the students to write down their answers on Page 28.
Step 5 Designing a timetable
Invite the students to design a timetalbe for their favourite subjects, sports and after-school activities. They may need this to write about their ideal school.
Step 6 Reading for structures
1. Ask the students: Are you satisfied with your current school life? What is your ideal school life?
Encourage the students to speak out their opinions.
2. Students listen to the tape and answer:
(1) When does Daniel’s school start?
(2) How much homework does he have?
3. Get the students to read the sample article by Daniel and figure out the ways or the structure that they can follow to write about their own ideal school.
Step 7 Writing
Tell the students that they can write their own article following the structure. Get the students to read the passage and pick up some useful sentence patterns. Show some writings of theirs.
Step 8 Homework
Go on finishing writing.
