Step1: lead-in (5 min) Show a photo of teacher’s family and introduce the jobs of the teacher’s family member. T: What’s this S: It’s a photo of family: T: My father is a teacher. He works at a school. What’s my mother’s job Try to guess it. Ask students to think of words about job. T: (worker, ....) are all jobs. What other jobs do you know Step2: Pre-reading Label the places and the people in the pictures with the words and expressions from the box. Check the pictures sentence by sentences. He is a bus driver. He works at a bus station. He is a bus driver at a bus station. Step3: While reading Prediction: Show four pictures of our friend and let students guess Betty’s father’s job Set an example: Read the first text together and answer two questions together “What’s Betty’s father’s job ”, “What’s Betty’s mother’s job ” 3.Read the passage again and complete the table. Check answers by asking and answer. (e.g. What’s Betty’s father’s job He is an actor at a theatre.) Choose a friend and help them complete self-introduction. Step4: post reading Introduce personal information of family in groups. Students can add more information if possible. MY name is ______. These are my parents. We’re from _____. We’re _________. My father is ________. And my mother is __________. Choose several students to show in front of the whole class. Discuss their future job: I want to be a/an ______ at/in _______.
