Film producers have been competing for the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival or Berlinale, since 1951. About 400 films are shown at the fortnight long festival held in February every year. As well as being one of the world's most prestigious (声望很高的) film festivals, with over 300,000 tickets sold, the Berlinale is also one of the biggest film festivals.
Venice International Film Festival
The Venice International Film Festival is the oldest film festival still in existence. It was first held in 1932, attracting more than 25,000 people. The festival is held in August and September and the top prize is the Golden Lion. About 20 films compete for the Golden Palm Award (金棕榈奖), but unlike the Oscars, the top prize is frequently shared between two films.
London International Film Festival
The London International Film Festival started in 1953 when a group of film critics (评论家) decided over dinner that London needed a film festival. The first festival showed 20 films and its aim was to give the public the chance to see films from around the world that were not being shown in the cinema. In many ways, Alma Deutscher is like other 11 year olds. She loves to climb trees, dance, read, and draw. But Alma, who lives in Dorking, England, can claim one very special achievement. She has composed a full opera and brought it to the stage. Her opera, a retelling of Cinderella (《灰姑娘》), premiered(首演)in December 2016, in Vienna, Austria.
“I've loved Cinderella since I was 3,” Alma said. But she felt the story needed an improvement. “I didn't like the thing about the shoes, ” she says. “Why should the prince find her because of her feet ”
In Alma's version (版本), Cinderella is a composer. She creates a melody (旋律) that she sings to the prince before fleeing the ball. “He remembers the beginning but not how it goes on, ” Alma says. The prince realizes that only Cinderella would know how the melody continues. He uses that knowledge to find her.
Alma began writing the opera when she was 8. It premiered to a sold out crowd on December 29, 2016, and got a standing ovation (起立鼓掌). Alma played the piano and violin and performed in the show. “It was something that was completely inside my head, in my imagination, and then it came to life, ” Alma says.
Alma says she is certain that music will remain a major part of her life. “I have lots of things that I want to compose, ” she says. “The first one is a piano concerto (协奏曲). Then I'm writing a novel, and I want to write a movie based on it, and the music for that.”

Finding fish is going to get harder as climate change continues to heat the world's oceans. A new study finds that warming seas over the past 80 years have reduced the sustainable catch of 124 species of fish and shellfish. Sustainable catch refers to the amount that can be harvested without doing long term damage to the health of populations of some species.
Overfishing has made that decline worse, researchers say. It refers to catching so many fish that the size of the population falls. In some parts of the world, such as the heavily fished Sea of Japan, the decrease is as high as 35 percent. That's a loss of more than one in every three fish.
Researchers examined changes in 235 populations of fish and shellfish between 1930 and 2010. Those fish populations spread far apart across 38 ocean regions. Temperature changes vary from one ocean site to another. But on average over that time, Earth's sea surface temperatures have risen by about half a degree Celsius.
On average, that the ocean warming has caused the sustainable catch to drop by 4.1 percent, the study found. About 8 percent of the fish and shellfish populations the team studied saw losses as a result of the ocean warming. However, about 4 percent of the populations increased. That's because certain species have thrived in warmer waters. One example is a kind of black sea fish. It lives along the northeastern US coast. As warming continues, these fish will reproduce faster until they reach their limit.
About 3.2 billion people worldwide rely on seafood as a source of food. That means it's urgent for commercial fishing fleets and regulators to consider how climate change is affecting the health of all of those fish in the sea.
8.What does the new study discover
A.Overfishing is to blame for fish health.
B.Warming seas cause fewer fish and shellfish.
C.Seafood matters to people's health worldwide.
D.The living regions of fish and shellfish are different.
9.What does the underlined word “thrived” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Survived narrowly. B.Disappeared soon.
C.Decreased sharply. D.Developed quickly.
10.What do we know about species of fish and shellfish
A.About 8 percent of them suffered from a great loss.
B.About 35 percent of them survived in the Sea of Japan.
C.About 3.2 billion species have been saved up to now.
D.About 80 species have died out because of warming seas.
11.What is the author's attitude towards the new discovery
A.Satisfied. B.Not interested.
C.Worried. D.Terrified.
