Title 9AUnit 8 Reading I 教学设计
Teaching objectives:A. Knowledge objectives:(1). To understand key vocabulary related to crime.(2) To learn to pay attention to details.B. Ability objectives:(1)To know about the main meaning of the text.(2)To develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.C .Value objectives:To develop students’ interest in detective stories.
Teaching key points and difficult points:1. Phrases: break into , be seen doing sth , take place , at the scene of the crime , find out , somewhere else , be wounded with, be bled to death , as a result , be charged with .2. Structures: (1) At the place where he was found. (2) We are asking anyone who saw anything unusual near Upper Street last night to contact us. (3) We’re now checking the scene for more clues which will help solve the case.
Teaching methods: Task-Based Language Teaching
Teaching Procedures Learning methods
Step1: PresentationT: Last time, we learnt that Eddie was looking for his missing food. Can you tell me what he needs to do to find his food (B C )S: He needs to ask witnesses and look for clues.T: In Sun Town, who was murdered last Saturday night Are their any witnesses and clues (A)S:……T: Yes, very good! Let’s watch some pictures of other cases.Show some pictures about some cases and present some new words about cases like victim , guilty , confirm , witness , crime , clues etc.Have the students finish the exercise of PartB1 on page110 to check if they have understood the meaning of the new words. 复习上节课内容,导入一些与谋杀案相关的图片,以图片导入,较直观,易理解,且能较大程度地调动起学生的积极性。最后直接配上书后的词汇练习,同时也达到了一个检测的目的。
Step2: Mind map(BC)Have the students finish a mind map about how to solve a crime with the teacher together. In this way ,the students can know about how a murder happens ,how to look for the witness or the murderer and how the police solve a murder. As a result , they can understand the text better. 通过这个思维导图,可以让学生了解一篇关于谋杀案的新闻报道的脉络,同时帮助学生进一步巩固文中相关词汇和句型,培养其阅读技能,促进其逻辑思维的发展。
Step3: ScanningHave the students read the whole text fast and find the answers to this key words: What , Who , When , Where. 通过这个活动整体把握课文,训练阅读技能。
Step4: Main dieasT: OK, now you know some basic information about this murder. How many paragraphs are there in this article (A)S: There are seven.T: We can divide it into four parts. Part one includes paragraph one. Part two includes paragraph 2 ,3, 4, and 5. Part three includes paragraph 6 and part four includes paragraph 7. But do you know the main idea of each part (C)Talk about the main idea of each part with your partners and then share your answers with us.(C) 这部分还是以整体阅读为主,让学生找出每个部分的大意,训练其阅读能力,提高其阅读技巧。
Step5: Detail reading1.The teacher explains the text paragraph by paragraph. In each paragraph , the teacher can ask the students some questions:(A)(1)Where was the body of the victim found Where did the victim work What was he last seen doing What was he going to do at that time When did the murder take place Have the police confirmed where the victim was killed Who is Detective Lu (8) How did the victim die 2. Have the students complete the exercises of Part B2 and B3 on page 110 and 111. 在这个环节中,本课的重点语言点得到了充分的操练,并给学生提供了用目标语言进行口头操练的大量活动和机会。在这个环节的最后,可以用书后的两个练习来检测下学生们对文章意思和知识点的掌握程度。
Step6: Interview(C)T:You are an interviewer. You want to interview your classmate about Detective Lu. Work in pairs, try to ask at least five questions about the murder. 帮助学生更好地熟悉和理解课文的同时,训练和提高学生提出问题和分析问题的能力。
