Unit1 How do you study for a test
一).明确目标,感知新词
Learning Goals:
Students can learn how to read the new words in the unit and try to remember most of the words, for example different /differently, easy/easily(adj. and adv.). They can listen, read and use these new words. Then they can make a story with the new words and try to memorize this story. In this class, they can also try to learn and practice the ways of learning English and make a list of problems and solutions they often meet in learning English.

二).交流巩固,明确读音
Step 1 Learn to read the words
1. First get the students to try their best to read the new words in this unit according to the phonetics given by themselves and underline the difficulties they meet.
2. Then give them a few minutes to deal with the problems they have in their pronunciation in pairs or groups. The teacher can walk around to help them if necessary .
3.Next, get individual students to read the new words to the class, the others listen. If possible , the teacher gets the student to correct some pronunciations .When necessary, the teacher should correct the mistakes himself or herself.
4. Last, get the students to read the words twice after the tape . Then give them a few more minutes to read all the words quickly to consolidate the pronunciation.

Step 2 : Learn to remember words
Remember the words or phrases by looking at pictures (Make a competition in groups! Divide the new words into three parts. (P 146). Ask students to try their best to remember new words or phrases ) (给学生一些时间尽可能快速记忆单词或词组,展示图片让学生站起来抢答单词并拼写,看哪一组记得效果更好)

Step 3 Consolidation of words
1.Give the students a few minutes to try to memorize the words first . Then get them to work in pairs to spell the words or write down the words with the Chinese given in Zhuxue. Underline the words they haven’t grasped. (小组合作快速记忆,并相互提问检查,同时,利用助学查缺补漏。由组长负责检查小组其他成员的默写情况,将不会默写的单词记录下来,然后集中给老师,由老师再领读和指导记忆方法。大家用手指在课桌上仿写这些单词)
2. The teacher can also give some important words and get the students to try to have a short dictation. (教师将汉语展示在课件上,让学生看着汉语快速默写单词。最后看哪一组默得快,正确率高。基本以黑体单词为主,突出重点。)

四).故事呈现,整体感知
Step 4 读故事,译故事,用下划线标出生词。
With the development of society, many adults realize it’s their duty to teach the children English .They make flashcards, make vocabulary lists and get their children to read aloud to practice pronunciation. The psychologists feel differently. They have disagreements and more specific suggestions. They add taking notes is one of the secrets of becoming good language learners. Students can deal with new words by looking them up in a dictionary .They can also study grammar .
Now, the students are trying their best to study English .They still have much trouble .They often make mistakes and don’t know how to use commas. They speak English very slowly. They can't memorize the words quickly, They think spoken English is frustrating. They are also afraid to make their parents angry with them or be laughed at by others. With these influences, they are afraid to lose friendship ,too . As time goes by , they regard problems as challenges and can face them now . They find many solutions to the problems. Unless they give up, it doesn’t matter if they can solve them this term. Later on, they can make up an essay and make complete sentences easily. The teachers are very impressed and excited.
(设计意图:该短文涉及到了本单元的大部分词汇。通过这一短文的阅读和翻译,能够让学生结合语篇,更好的理解和体会这些单词的意思。)
Step 5 画思维树
(在学生掌握本单元单词的基础上,把本单元的生词编成了一篇关于英语学习的短文,既指出了学生学习英语中存在的问题又指出了一些学英语的方式,明确了下一步努力地方向,引导学生不仅记忆词汇本身的意义,同时在具体的语境中体会它的意义,体现了在用中学的教学理念,有助于学生实际和使用本单元的词汇。)

亮点:
本单元的单词课堂设计基本涵盖了本单元的单词,尤其是故事编写让学生在故事中对单词有了大致理解。单词的拼读注重了学生自学能力和小组合作能力的培养。同时通过各种形式的单词记忆既加深了单词的识记,又理解了部分单词的大致用法,尤其是英语学法的列举更是让学生对SectionA有了全面的了解,达到了预习的目的。当堂检测的设计更是有效地补充与巩固了词汇的用法。
不足之处:
第一单元词汇较多,有很多用法并没有全面展示,甚至个别用法没有涉及。同时本课容量较大,时间较紧,部分环节不能很好的展示与训练,学生对单词的记忆只是局限在一部分内容上。
使用建议:
首先要对单元内容达到熟练掌握,能够基本明确单词在单元中的位置及其用法,同时必须准备完善的多媒体课件,才能有效地增加课堂效率。
同时尽可能放缓速度,多找英语单词读写困难的、记忆较差的、基础较弱的学生去拼读单词,说出词组及简单的练习题答案,注意2人或多人小组合作或帮扶学习的方式使用,以加大检查普及率,增大学生合作学习活动的广度、力度。
教后小结:
本节课借助图片展示学单词,激发了学生用英语表达的积极性,其中也包含了通过音标、单词组合等方法记忆单词。由于学生层次的差异,基础好的学生能很容易地知道其英文所要表达的意思,对于基础较差的学生来说不起什么作用。
