Plan your dream vacation to one of these excellent destinations.
St. Lucia
Abundant rainforests and splendid mountains are all reasons to visit this Caribbean island. St. Lucia offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. To take in the breathtaking scenery, plan to hike the Piton Mountains or dive in the waters of Anse Chastanet.
Banff. Alberta
This Canadian destination will bring out the explorer in anyone who visits. From hiking and whitewater rafting to skiing and snowboarding, Banff offers travellers an abundance of year round outdoor activities. The Lake Louise Ski Resort is one of the largest in North America and the striking photo opportunities of the Canadian Rockies from Moraine Lake can't be underestimated (低估).
Machu Picchu
According to travellers, a visit to this Peruvian UNESCO World Heritage (遗产) site is a once in a lifetime adventure. Located in the Andes Mountains, it is the most familiar icon (象征物) of Inca civilisation. Spend a few days accustoming yourself to the altitude in the neighbouring city of Cusco, where you can experience a mix of Incan and Spanish cultures.

Travellers can see these amazing natural structures from the air or underwater. However, large amounts of coral bleaching (褪色) caused by rising ocean temperatures put this place's continued existence at risk, so plan your visit soon to see this awesome sight up close.

Stories are shared in many ways. They are described in books and magazines. They are read around the campfire at night. They are randomly distributed from stand alone booths. But what else
To revive (复兴) literature in the era of fast news and smartphone addiction, Short Edition, a French publisher of short form literature, has set up more than 30 story dispensers (分发机) in the USA in the past years to deliver fiction at the push of a button at restaurants, universities and government offices.
Francis Ford Coppola, the film director and winemaker, liked the idea so much that he invested in the company and placed a dispenser at his Cafe Zoetrope in San Francisco. Last month public libraries in some other cities announced they would be setting them up, too. There is one on the campus at Penn State. A few can be found in downtown West Palm Beach, Fla. And Short Edition plans to announce more, including at the Los Angeles International Airport.
“Everything old is new again,” said Andrew Nurkin, the director of the Free Library of Philadelphia, which is one of the libraries that set up the dispensers. “We want people to be easily exposed to literature. We want to advance literacy among children and inspire their creativity.”
Here's how a dispenser works: It has three buttons on top indicating choices for stories that can be read in one minute, three minutes or five minutes. When a button is pushed, a short story is printed. The stories are free. They are chosen from a computer category of more than 100,000 original submissions by writers whose works have been evaluated by Short Edition's judges, and transmitted over a mobile network. Offerings can be tailored to specific interests, like children's fiction or romance. Short Edition gets stories for its category by holding writing contests.
Short Edition set up its first booth in 2016 and has 150 machines worldwide. “The idea is to make people happy,” said Kristan Leroy, director of Short Edition. “There is too much unhappiness today.”
24.What do we know about the stories sent by dispensers

C.They can be read on smartphones.
D.They are mainly taken from magazine literature.
25.Where can you find the popularity of story dispensers in America

26.Which is the main purpose of setting up the dispensers according to Andrew Nurkin
A.To get rid of people's smartphone addiction.
B.To reduce the financial stress of libraries.
C.To make people have access to literature.
D.To advertise the network literature.
27.What is the best title for the text
A.Online Reading: a Virtual Tour

Two strangers came to a village in the evening. They came to the leader of that village and asked for a place to live for the night. The leader said they could stay in the house for strangers. But they were also told about the old custom in the village—people kill the man who snores (打鼾).

The end of the year is drawing near, and winter is in full swing. The season brings along with it strong winds and snow—an environment that's never comfortable to be in.
This unpleasant and even frightening aspect of winter can often be seen in literature. In Shakespeare's King Lear (1606), the king has given away his kingdom and been rejected by his two ungrateful daughters. He is out in the winter cold, suffering things that are usually reserved for the poorest and most unfortunate human beings.
The winter is bad enough for Lear, but being abandoned by his family is worse. A song from another Shakespeare's play, As You Like It (1599), is fitting for this poor old man's situation: “Blow, blow, thou winter wind,/Thou art not so unkind/As man's ingratitude (忘恩负义)”. Here, winter is used to bring out the ugliness of inhumanity (无人性). There aren't many things that are worse than winter, according to Shakespeare.
Once winter became less of a threat to human beings, literary works featuring it became more positive. Since Charles Dickens, the representation of the season in literature has often featured happy Christmas celebrations.
The cold of the winter weather provides a contrast to the fun going on indoors.
Dickens' A Christmas Carol (1843) was the start of this, but Christmas is still a common, cheery element (元素) in stories that feature winter scenes today. Consider the joy felt by Harry Potter and his friends in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (1997) as they sit down for their festive meal:
“Harry had never in all his life had such a Christmas dinner. A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce.”
It is almost as much a pleasure to read about the meal as it might have been to eat it.
Although winter still isn't the most cheerful season in novels and poems, it's safe to say that writers have certainly “warmed up” since Shakespeare's days.
32.What's the author's main purpose in writing this article
A.To recommend some winter stories in literature.
B.To explain what winter is like in literary works.
C.To describe certain customs that are related to winter.
D.To tell us why winter is described as unpleasant in literature.
33.What can we learn from Shakespeare's works
A.Shakespeare didn't like winter for its bad weather.
B.King Lear was forced to give up being a king in a cold winter.
C.It's in winter when King Lear drove his two daughters off.
D.Winter is compared with the ugly side of humanity.
34.Why does the author mention Charles Dickens in the passage
A.A lot of his works are related to winter.
B.He is the most popular author of winter stories.
C.He started a new way of representing winter.
D.His works make people feel cheerful in winter.
35.The example of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is used mainly to show ________.
A.traditional Christmas food makes the winter cheery
B.Christmas is still a symbol of joy in modern stories
C.it's a pleasure to read Christmas related books in winter
D.winter has become the happiest season in literary works

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Early one weekend morning, I was sleeping like a log when the telephone rang. When I answered I heard my Grandma's voice “Hey, sweetheart. I have missed you so much lately. Why don't you come to the countryside and enjoy some fine views?” she asked. “Dad, Grandma is inviting us to her home,” I shouted to my father who was busy in the kitchen. “Fine with me,” he responded in a casual tone. After a quick breakfast, we drove to Grandma's.
Once we arrived, we were both thrilled by the breath taking landscape. The plum trees in the backyard were ripe with fruit, while millions of wildflowers colored the valley. Grandma prepared delicious lunch including her special homemade apple jam, which was my favorite. Seeing my greedy eyes, grandma said, “Take some when you leave, and I've got plenty stored in the cellar (地窖).” Talking and laughing,we didn't even notice that it was late in the afternoon, though somewhat cooler than it had been that morning. Grandma suggested that we take her homemade wooden boat for a tour along the nearby river.
Seated in the boat, looking up at the sky, I felt like the clouds were greeting us cheerfully from above. In the vast fields, the golden trees were like brides in the sun. The breeze skimmed over the surface of the field, carrying the sweet smell of the flowers. It was like a picture painted by one of the Dutch masters. “It is so nice to spend some quality time with family,” Dad murmured. “It feels like we're on an adventure,” I added. “It's been so much fun!”
While we were admiring the splendid setting around us, the weather started getting hot and humid again. At first, we ignored this change, but when dad looked up at the sky, he saw dark, low clouds were approaching us. Then a fierce gale (大风) sprang up. Lightning flashed within the black clouds, followed by a roar of thunder. “Row!” Dad shouted, trembling, “A tornado (龙卷风) is coming!”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
There was no time to think. We rowed as fast as we could.

参考范文:
There was no time to think. We rowed as fast as we could. Although I didn't dare to look, I could feel the tornado getting closer as hail started to fall, hitting the creaky old boat hard. Chased by the relentless nightmare. I couldn't afford to let up for a moment. I didn't even wipe the sweat away as it streamed in my eyes and blurred my view. Finally Grandma's house appeared before my eyes. We jumped out of the boat and ran towards it. Gasping for breath, we buzzed the doorbell again and again.
Grandma opened the door for us. We dripped water on her floor as we went inside, our shoes and clothes soaked through. Grandma said we needed to find a safer place to ride out the tornado, and we followed her into the cellar. Dad helped close off the entrance while I huddled in the dark comer, quivering from the cold and the fear. We stayed down there, waiting for the tornado to pass over us. We didn't wait very long, for it was over in a matter of minutes. However, after this experience, I appreciated every day with my family.
