Avi Bendahan and Shijia Jiang are unlikely collaborators (合作者).
Jiang is a classically trained performer of Peking Opera, or Jingju. Bendahan is a local actor, dancer in Canada. He and Jiang together are the core (核心) of Jingju Canada, a theater company that adapts the ancient Chinese art in Montreal and across Canada.
“I really want people in the West to know Peking Opera,” says Jiang. The two are, in a sense, building an audience for the art form in and outside of the city's Chinese community.
“Peking Opera is very strict, and hard to understand. They don't speak Standard Chinese. No, they speak the Peking Opera dialect (方言),” Meng Rong, the leader of the Confucius Institute in Quebec says of the language used, which is comparable to Shakespearean speech. “You need to have special skills to understand.” As a result, the popularity of Peking Opera is fading
One of Jingju Canada's approaches to that problem is to translate.
Their first show was 2011's Crossroads.
“It was the first time Jingju Canada translated a Chinese opera show into English,” says Bendahan. “And it was the first time we created newish characters.”
Bendahan handles the translations. “The language is very hard for me,” says Jiang, referring to English. Jiang's strong point in performance is combat — she trained in China as a wudan, a fighting woman.
But change, of course, presents challenges.
“They don't want to lose the core things from Peking Opera,” says Rong. That's where Jiang's other speciality (专长), besides combat, comes in. She was among the first in China to study the new for Jingju program of directing. “We learned new ways of directing,” she says. “We used music, dance, movies, and then put them together with Peking Opera.”
“Crossroads was very successful,” says Rong. “The audiences really loved it. And I think for every culture, if the nice part can be shown to the public, and everybody understands and everybody enjoys it, why don't we do it ”
24. What is Jiang's reason for working with Bendahan on Jingju Canada
A. To help Bendahan study Chinese.
B. To develop her friendship with Bendahan.
C. To help foreigners know more about Peking Opera.
D. To perform Peking Opera in more Chinese communities.
25. What makes Peking Opera less popular according to Rong
A. Its boring settings.
B. Its outdated music.
C. Its unique language.
D. Its special characters.
26. What did Jiang do when preparing for Crossroads
A. She used a new method of directing.
B. She gave up her directing program.
C. She trained other performers.
D. She translated the text.
27. How does Rong feel about Jiang and Bendahan's work
A. He's shocked.
B. He's satisfied.
C. He's doubtful.
D. He's thankful.

It's been 150 years this summer since building work was completed on the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London. When it was completed, Tsar Nicholas I, the ruler of Russia, called it “a dream in stone”.
Important buildings have been built on this site for more than 1, 000 years. In the early 8th century, a church was built that became known as the West Minster. In the 11th century it was the location of a royal residence This was the first Palace of Westminster. The first official Parliament met there in 1295. Work on the palace continued until 1834, when the building was destroyed by fire.
In 1835, the architect Charles Barry was picked to design the Parliament building in a style known as “Gothic Revival”. Another architect, Augustus Pugin, helped with the inner part. The work overran and the costs rose to three times more than planned. According to one historian it cost 2.3 million — which in today's money is more than 4 billion. It finally reopened in 1870.
The Houses of Parliament are once again considered to be a serious fire risk. Small fires broke out 40 times between 2008 and 2012 and a fire safety team has to be on site. A report in 2016 said that maintaining the building was like “trying to fill a bathtub with a thimble (顶针) while the water is flowing out of the plughole ( 排水孔) at the other end”. In 2018, Parliament held discussions over its restoration and decided that its members would have to move out of the building during its refurbishment (翻新).
The plan is for everyone to move out by 2025 when the restoration will begin. It is said that it will cost around 4 billion and be completed by the early 2030s. The plans include taking away all fire risks, restoring the stonework and repairing around 4,000 windows.
28. What is the main idea of paragraph 2
A. The West Minster was a popular place for tourists.
B. The site of the Parliament building is historic.
C. Building the Parliament building took a long time.
D. People had different reasons to build a palace in Westminster.
29. What can we learn about the Parliament building
A. It cost less than expected.
B. It was completed on time.
C. It was being rebuilt for more than 30 years.
D. It was designed by Augustus Pugin alone.
30. What is the biggest problem the Houses of Parliament face now
A. A great fire risk.
B. No safety team.
C. A shortage of money.
D. No restoration workers.
31. How is this text mainly developed
A. By analyzing causes.
B. By giving descriptions.
C. By following time order.
D. By making comparisons.

Buster Keaton was born on October 4, 1895 in Piqua, Kansas, to Joe and Myra Keaton. At six months, he fell down a flight of stairs. Reaching the floor unhurt, he was picked up by magician Harry Houdini who said the kid was a real buster. The word “buster” means an unusually strong child. From then on, his parents and the world knew him as Buster Keaton. By the age of three, Keaton had joined the family's vaudeville (杂耍) act. It was this training in vaudeville that prepared him for the fast-paced comedy of the silent movies.
In 1917, Keaton moved to Hollywood, where he met another former vaudevillian. Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, a famous comic actor of the time, took Keaton on and showed him the ropes of the movie industry. Keaton regarded Arbuckle as one of his closest friends and his greatest influence. With his remarkable acrobatic (杂技般的) acts, the thin Keaton was a perfect partner for Arbuckle. Within a few years, Keaton became an increasingly popular comic star.
Most of Keaton's famous movies were made during the 1920s. Writing, directing, and starring in these films, Keaton created a crazy funny world. He often found himself in the same difficult situations as Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, but he always kept a sense of stillness throughout, without showing joy, anger, or sadness at all. No matter how lost or unlucky Keaton seemed to be, he was never one to be pitied. The New York Times said of him, “In a film world that exaggerated everything, ... he remained expressionless and serious, his stone face holding back all emotion.”
Though he acted in a number of films in the 1930s, Keaton began to lose his popularity with audiences, partly because of the appearance of the films with sound. It was not until the 1950s that the public liking for Keaton's work returned. The great skills needed to complete his heart-stopping acts amazed people who had become used to simple, flat physical comedy and he was considered one of the greatest comic actors of the silent age.
32. How did Keaton get his first name
A. From his excellent skills.
B. From his parents' love for him.
C. From a story about a magician.
D. From a harmless fall accident.
33. What did Arbuckle mean to Keaton
A. He was a big fan of Keaton.
B. He acted as Keaton's guide to the movies.
C. He was one of Keaton's main competitors.
D. He became Keaton's vaudeville instructor.
34. What made Keaton unusual according to paragraph 3
A. His care about society.
B. His understanding of films.
C. His unemotional coolness.
D. His heart-warming stories.
35. What excited people's interest in Keaton's films again
A. His great acrobatic skills.
B. The rise of physical comedy.
C. The influence of silent movies.
D. His achievements in films with sound.

Since I sometimes watch movies and write reviews, I decided to draw up some kind of a plan for writing reviews.
· 36 The title of the movie must be present in the title since this is a keyword. But the “Interstellar movie review” headline is really boring. There should be some intrigue (神秘气氛) in the title, at least a little. Let's say “Interstellar or separation from daughter for 30 years”.
· Add interesting facts. In the first sentence, include a surprising fact or opinion about the film. 37 From the first lines, he / she needs to get an idea of the nature of the review and the quality (品质) of the movie in order to read on.

Last fall, our family was on our way back from a weekend in the mountains. My brother and I were riding in the back seat of our car. I was looking out of my window when suddenly I saw a dog standing by itself on the side of the road. I shouted at my dad, and he made a U-turn to go back and see if the dog was all right.
We got out of the car, walked up to this cold, damp spot (潮湿的地方) and found out there wasn't just one dog — there were three and they were puppies (幼犬). Then we discovered another puppy in a box, down below in the ravine (山谷). My dad went to save that puppy. He said that it looked like it was going to die. The poor little thing wouldn't eat any of the treats we gave it, and it was shaking.
My mom, dad, brother and I were full of questions. Who had left these puppies here Why would anyone do such a terrible thing What were we going to do with these four little puppies We knew that we couldn't just leave them. Since we already had two dogs, we wouldn't be able to keep them either — especially four of them!
My mom went back to the car and got a dry box. We carefully placed the puppies in the box, and my mom held them on her lap (大腿部) as we drove to the nearest fire station. Since it was Sunday, the local animal shelter (收容所) was closed. Mom and I walked up to the front door of the station and knocked on the door. A fireman opened the door, and we asked him if they would take care of the puppies until Monday and then take them to the local animal shelter. While we were talking to the fireman who had opened the door, four other firemen had started playing with the puppies. One of the puppies was already running around the fire station. The firemen could tell how worried I was about these lovely little things, and they agreed to keep the puppies until the next day.

第二节
One possible version:
As we drove down the mountain, I couldn't get my mind off the puppies. I was filled with all kinds of feelings: happiness, anger and sadness — all at the same time. I was so happy that I had seen the first puppy standing all by itself, but I was also angry at the person who had left them in the ravine. I was sad at the thought of those little puppies all by themselves in the cold before we came into their lives to save them. They were so small — they couldn't have been more than four weeks old.
My mom called the animal shelter the next day to make sure that the puppies were fine. She was told that they were all there, eating and sleeping quite a bit. Even the weakest puppy, the one that we were afraid wasn't going to make it, was getting better with all the food and warmth. We were told that each of the puppies would be adopted for sure, as they were so cute and friendly. We were very happy to hear that and felt good about how we'd rescued them.

结合本句中的but Melissa asked me to follow her inside for support可知,此处表示“我”原以为在外边“等候(wait)”妻子就可以。
42. A。 Look here! It's Joey! Please tell me you are auditioning for our play可知,有人看到了“我”。
We lived in a small town及下文中的Look here!
44. A。 Please tell me you are auditioning for our play可知,此处表示“我”告诉她“我”不是来试演的,故选told。
45. D。下文Talk him into it中的it指代“试演”这件事。
48. C。由上文中的 someone handed me a script及本句中的because I had never acted可知,“我”觉得自己肯定不会被选中,四个选项中,只有part(角色)符合语境。get the part 获得(试演的)角色。
49. D。 I was LV Shoestring Stage Productions' newest actor可知,“我”最后竟然被选中了。
Melissa helped me with my lines. We read the script aloud several times可知,此处应该表示为表演做准备,故选prepare for。
55. A。 I've actually had a lot of fun ... this with her部分是对I wasn't sure about this acting thing at first部分的转折。 此处是对上文中的doing this for me的复现。
