◆this/these指代或修饰在时间上或空间上较近的人或物,that/those指代或修饰在时间上或空间上较远
的人或物。
This is my new friend. 这是我的新朋友。
He likes these flowers very much. 他很喜欢这些花。
That is a lovely dog. 那是一只可爱的狗。
In those days they had a hard time. 在那些日子里,他们过得很艰难。
◆that还可以指上文提到的事物,this指下文中将要提到的事物。
He got up late. That’s why he was late for class. (that指代上文提到的“ He got up late.”这件事情)
他起床晚了,那就是他上课迟到的原因。
