It's amazing how often we take advantage of things in life. When we're used to something, we don't always appreciate how lucky we are to have it. While we're here complaining that our Wi-Fi isn't fast enough and that our videos keep stuttering, there are people in Africa who don't even get to eat three meals a day. While most people work hard for the things they own, it's important to stop and think of what others don't have every now and again. You may not think that shoes are something worth going crazy over, but the Ugandan woman would disagree. After all, she went wild when she put a pair of shoes on for the first time in her life.
That's what Laura Grier did one day. The woman was in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda, when she felt it necessary to stop and help someone by the side of the road. The person in question was standing around without any shoes on, and the sight convinced Laura to give up her own footwear. She had more shoes at home , while this woman had never even worn a pair before.
Laura's generosity was definitely appreciated by the stranger who treated her benefactor(捐助人)to a celebratory dance. The woman couldn't keep the smile from her face as she went wild in her brand-new shoes. Laura was thrilled that her good deed had made the stranger so happy, and she cheered on the Ugandan woman as she danced in the street.
Next time you buy a pair of shoes, remember how lucky you are to have them.

A. Strange. B. Thankful. C. Shocked. D. Reasonable.
27. What would be the best title for the text
A. Never Expect Too Much of Life. B. Don't Admire What Others Have
C. Value What We Already Have. D. Know More About Africa.

If you have a pet, you've probably wished at some point that it could talk to you. You may think that's impossible and feel sad. But is that really impossible Alexis Devine would tell you that her dog can - in
a way.
Devine, an artist in Tacoma, has had Bunny, a female sheepadoodle for a year. And in that time, Devine says she's introduced Bunny to more than 50 words by teaching her to press buttons that play words out loud. For instance, as seen in videos Devine has posted on social media, if Bunny wants to go to the park, she'll press a button that says "park". Or, if she wants to play, she'll hit the button for " play". Those posts on TikTok have become wildly popular with 3.4 million followers.
Devine was inspired after finding Christina Hunger, a speech-language pathologist(病理学家)who teaches her dog, Stella, how to communicate with buttons." My goal before I got her was that I wanted to have the most connected and engaged relationship possible," Devine said." I feel like there's so much potential in animal relationships and I really wanted to make the most of it."
So how does Bunny learn to use the buttons Devine said its ability is mostly from repetition. Normally when Devine adds words, she's already using the word in conversation with Bunny. She said that Bunny has already built an association with that word. Then, to help her learn the button's position, Devine will repeat the word and strengthen the behavior after Bunny presses a button.
While Devine and Bunny have fun with the buttons Devine said they communicate well too without them. "I don't want to take away any of her dogness," Devine said." The buttons are super interesting and they may give us more in-depth insight into what's going on inside a dog's mind, but she already has all the tools she needs to communicate."
28. What has Bunny learned to do
A. To communicate with buttons B. To watch videos on social media.
C. To distinguish "park" from "play" D. To know over 3.4 million followers
29. How did Devine teach Bunny the skill
A. By using words Bunny had already known B. By repeatedly associating words with buttons
C. By turning to a speech-language pathologist. D. By regularly changing the positions of buttons.
30.What is Devine's intention of training Bunny
A. Having an ideal relationship with her pet. B. Catching attention on social media like TikTok.
C. Connecting with as many animals as possible. D. Inspiring more people to care about special dogs.
31. What did Devine mean by saying "I don't want to take away any of her dogness"
A. She wouldn't teach Bunny words in the future. B. She would continue the study about dogs’ minds.
C. She enjoyed talking with Bunny in other ways. D. She respected Bunny's way of communicating.

Do we still need cash The days of holding notes in our hands may be numbered. The advancement of technology and the increase of new electronic and mobile devices in today's world are set to revolutionize how we make payments. With a click of a mobile phone app, our entire wealth is literally at our fingertips. As digital forms are increasingly replacing cash payments, some think that we should become fully cash-free. However, I do not believe we should move towards a completely cash-free society.
One of the main concerns of a cashless world is the risk of a cheat and ridiculously, the inconvenience that follows. The instant content that accompanies cashless transactions(交易)could be compromised by online security issues. Technology experts argue that our current state of technology is unable to provide a secure cashless environment that could prevent people from accessing the system illegally and abusing the personal data. In addition, many online shopping sites lack strong systems that would protect their customers personal information. Occasionally, when an account is" locked" due to a suspected cheating activity, having cash in hand becomes critical. In a cashless society, a victim of cheating would find himself locked out of his account and unable to have access to his money until the case is solved. Going cash-free causes great inconvenience in this case.
Another reason is that mankind might potentially become less thrifty(节俭的). Paying in cash causes a psychological pain on consumers so that they are more cautious in their spending. As it is, cashless payments have already eased that pain somewhat. Thus, an even more careless digital payment could make us much less thrifty.
The idea of a cashless society is a very real, or even an exciting one. However, to safeguard the interests of all users, it is better to soften our enthusiasm - perhaps to be a less-cash society rather than a completely cashless one is a better option.
32. How can cashless payments benefit people according to the author
A. They can warn people of risks. B. They can remind people of mistakes.
C. They can reduce psychological pain D. They can make life convenient
33. What's the second reason the author tells to support his idea
A. The risk of a cheat. B. The inconvenience
C. The lack of safety. D. The desire to purchase things.
34. What's the best title for the passage
A. Going Against the Cashless Wave B. Going Completely Cashless Is True
C. Stopping Moving towards Being Cashless D. We Do Not Need Cash Any Longer
35. The passage is mainly developed by.
A. giving examples B. analyzing causes
C. making introductions D. examining differences

Be a Green Guest
When people take a vacation, they often take a vacation from responsibility, too. Our behavior at hotels is one of the biggest problems. We have our linen(亚麻织品)washed daily for us, and are provided with an endless stream of hot water. But all of this luxury equals serious consequences for the environment. 36 They offer programs and facilities that save water and energy. That's a good start, but there is a lot more you can do to cut down the amount of waste produced.
37
In America alone, there are about 50,000 hotels. Now think if hotel management puts two small bottles for each hotel room every day, that's a huge amount of little plastic bottles that may not even get recycled. And what about all of that shampoo when you don't finish the bottle A better way is to bring your own shampoo from home.
●Turn off the lights.
You do it when you're at home, right Do it at the hotel, too. Studies have shown that, in hotels, the majority of energy spent through lighting comes from the bathroom light being left on for more than one hour! 38 , remember to hit the switch!
●Don't have your sheets or towels washed every day.
Sure, it's luxury to have linen and towels cleaned every day, but that's all it is. Washing a set of bed sheets and a pair of bathroom towels requires about 12-16 gallons of water. See if there is a policy for requesting that your towels and linen get washed weekly. In some hotels, it's as simple as hanging towels back up on a hook. 39 .
These tips are also useful for trips to a friend's or relative's house. 40 . They will also save your hosts a lot of money.
A. Think about bathroom facilities
B. Just say " no" to hotel shampoo
C. When you're using the bathroom
D. After you're done with your business
E. They will save plastic, water, and electricity
F. More and more hotels are becoming eco-friendly
G. In others, you may ask the front desk for a personal request

Helping My Parents with Lunar New Year's Eve Dinner
With the Spring Festival approaching, every family is busy preparing the Lunar New Year's Eve Dinner, with me no exception.
The New Year's Eve Dinner is a reunion time for people to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year with full expectation. As scheduled, what I need to do first is to make a typical food list for the dinner. Then, I will buy the food materials in the early morning and help my parents with the cooking and setting the table in the late afternoon. After enjoying the meal, we can watch the Spring Festival Gala together.
The big dinner promises a new start. I can't wait to offer my help.
