Unit 1 Know yourself
Task
Teaching objectives:
By the end of the class, students should be able to:
1. make a spidergram to organize their ideas more clearly;
2. talk about a person with some adjectives and examples;
3. write a formal recommendation letter in English;
4. know themselves better and try to be the best of themselves.
【设计意图】Task板块,作为单元的最后一课时,它不仅承载着对这一单元知识和技能性学习内容的输出任务,同时也是单元主题教学情感意识方面的一种升华。因此,以学生发展学科核心素养为目标,以落实立德树人为根本任务,结合本单元Task板块的设计特点,我从知识、技能、情感等方面,依据学科能力从学习理解到应用实践,再到迁移创新的发展过程,设计了以上四个课堂教学目标。
Teaching activities:
Activity one Lead-in: Know Jack Ma
Step 1 Talk about what is important to a person.
Step 2 Watch a video, talk about Jack Ma and make a spidergram about him.
【设计意图】以马云为例,通过观看视频,直观而形象地感知马云所具备的突出品质,引导学生讨论“较之外貌而言,什么对于一个人来说更重要”。这一环节用真实的事例复习有关描述个性品质的形容词,引导学生初步感知蜘蛛状说明的作用,同时渗透意志品质的教育。
Activity two Pre-writing: Know David
Step 1 Talk about David according to the spidergram on P18.
Step 2 Analyze the spidergram to talk about how to describe a person’s qualities.
Step 3 Ask students to finish the recommendation letter on P19.
Step 4 Talk about how to write a recommendation letter.
【设计意图】通过提问学习有关David的蜘蛛状说明,帮助学生理解并总结绘制spidergram来组织想法的意图和方法,启发学生思考推荐理由,强化学生对突出品质重要性的认识。通过引导学生分析推荐信的结构和内容,帮助他们从形式和内容两方面学习如何自己写好推荐信。写作前这一系列环环相扣、层层推进的设计,目的是为后续的写作打好基础、设好铺垫。
Activity three While-writing: Know yourself
Step 1 Ask students to make a spidergram to know themselves better.
Step 2 Ask students to write a letter to recommend themselves as the headmaster’s
helper.

【设计意图】创设情境:班主任还需要一位得力助手,鼓励大家在分析自己的个性品质后,写一封自荐信给老师。“每个人身上都有闪光点”,我鼓励学生自信地去寻找自己的优点,并利用spidergram理清思路、组织想法,之后指导学生以课本推荐信为例、紧扣评价表中关键评分点完成一封完整的自荐信。
Activity four Post-writing: Check and show
Step 1 Ask students to check writings in groups according to the appraising form.
Step 2 Show and share some writings in front of the whole class.
【设计意图】解读评价表是写作和评价环节的一个关键,由于学生刚刚进入初三,对于如何对总分为20的写作进行分档评分还没什么概念,我将书面表达中考必备要求具象化,并用星星来代替分数,易于理解也易于操作,为今后的写作实践和写作评价做好铺垫。
Activity five Closing
Step 1 Ask students to describe Ms. Ma and share an original poem with them.
Step 2 Give students some advice to encourage them to be the best of themselves.
【设计意图】在鼓励学生对老师进行评价之后,分享我的原创小诗,给学生一些建议,希望同学们在生活中都去努力追寻最好的自己,这部分既是对本课时内容的总结,同时也激起了师生间思想的共鸣,达到了情感的升华。
