We can use ‘_______’ (to do, doing) or ‘_______’ (nouns, adjectives) after ‘prefer’ and ‘to’.
2. e.g. I prefer eating Chinese food to (eating) Western food.
We can omit the 2nd verb when it is the same as the first one.
3. e.g. I prefer to eat Chinese food.
If we only want to talk about the thing we would like to do, we can just use ‘prefer to do …’.
e.g. I prefer to paint the sky blue.
