 选择题部分

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Traveling by train may seem like a pain when there are faster ways to get around, but unless you’ve taken a long journey by train, there is no way you can begin to understand how amazing an experience it can be.Trains offer a certain romance(浪漫) which planes and cars never could.
Trains offer you a view like no other. When you fly in a plane, yes, the view is breathtaking for the first part of the flight and the final part, but the flight itself means pretty much clouds or darkness—both of which get real boring and real fast. And by car,the actual act of driving and navigating(导航) means that you don’t really get to fully take things in.The train offers a comfy(轻松的) spot that gives you the chance to relax and enjoy the beauty around you. Many have said that they’d never known how beautiful their own country is until having the chance to see it from the train. There is something magical about travelling around the country using one of the oldest known methods of transportation. It’s so...Orient Express...without the murder of course!
If you’re inspired by this article enough to want to consider a trip enjoying the train, then my first suggestion would be a trip in and around Europe. You’ve likely heard of Eurail which is the best way to get all around Europe, but before we get into that, know that many European countries still use the old fashioned locomotives(火车头) for regional trips.Imagine travelling along the beautiful countryside of Portugal or Austria in a compartment. The quiet setting, the history and the magic is enough to take your breath away. That really is the ultimate in travel.

4.What does the underlined phrase “take your breath away” most probably mean

In general(一般来说) people talk about two groups of colours: warm colours and cool colours.Scientists think that there are also two groups of people: people who prefer warm colours and people who prefer cool colours.
The warm colours are red, orange and yellow.Where there are warm colours and a lot of light, people usually want to be active.People think that red example is exciting sociable(善交际的) people. Those who like to be with others like red.The cool colours are green, blue and purple. These colours unlike warm colours, are relaxing.Where there are cool colours, people are usually quiet.People who like to spend time alone often prefer blue.
Red may be exciting but one scientist says that time seems to pass more slowly in a room with warm colours than in a room with cool colours. He suggested that a warm colour such as red or orange, is a good colour for a living room or a restaurant.
People who are relaxing or eating don’t want time to pass quickly.Cool colours are better for offices of factories as the people who work there want time to pass quickly.Scientists don’t know why people think some colours are warm and other colours are cool.
However, almost everyone agrees that warm colours remind(使想起) people of warm days and cool colours remind them of cool days.Because in the north the sun is low during winter, the sunlight appears quite blue.Because the sun higher during summer, the hot summer sunlight appears yellow.

B.are very easy to get on with others

A.Time seems to pass more slowly in a room with warm colours than in a room with cool colours.
B.The persons who are relaxing don’t want time to pass slowly.
C.Maybe warm colours make people think of warm days.
D.The writer thinks cool colours are good for offices of factories.
7.Which is the best title of the passage
A.Two Groups of Colours B.Cool Colours
C.Warm Colours D.Colours and People
8.When people talk about two groups of people, they mean those that ________.
A.like warm colours and like cool colours

C.are warm colours and cool colours
D.are green, blue and purple

One winter Sunday,my little sister,Colleen,and I built the greatest snowman ever.We gave him a carrot nose,beautiful hat,cozy scarf and gloves.He was a masterpiece(杰作).
The next morning when looking outside,we smiled lovingly at him over our meal.We gave him a high-five as we passed by on our way to school.A lot of kids went past our house,so he was the hot topic at our school that morning. It was our pride!
The day dragged on until finally we could rush home. But as our yard came into sight,we saw something wrong. The snowman was gone! We only found a broken stick here,a torn glove there and balls of snow everywhere.Worst of all,the snowman’s once-proud carrot nose lay limp(无力的)and half-eaten.
What had happened We were both astonished and angry. But then,we were only kids, who wouldn’t have anything taking away our happiness.Actually we knew only one thing: Our snowman would rise again. And so we rebuilt him.
The next day we came home to find another mess on the front lawn(草坪).For the rest of the week, the destruction was repeated daily. Each afternoon we’d return to find our snowman had fallen apart, and then we built again.
By Saturday morning,we had a plan.We borrowed a really big bucket (水桶) from Mom,filled it with water and left it outside. The next morning,it was frozen solid. We packed snow all around the ice block as the base (底座)of the snowman. Then we built the other parts of it once again. The trap was set,and we waited for the snowman bullies(破坏者)to come.

Paragraph1:
Hiding behind the window,we soon saw what we were waiting for. It turned out that there were three of them from our school. They sneaked up on our snowman and sneered.Taking their places on either side, they pulled back their legs to deliver powerful kicks. But the moment they hit the hard ice block of the base, sneers turned into shock, then agony and tears. They howled and cursed, gritting their teeth and stomping their feet.
Paragraph2:
Seeing their pained look,we couldn’t help laughing. They were too funny as they hopped away holding their damaged feet.We just couldn’t contain our happiness and excitement. With a hearty laugh,we came out of hiding and sprang into the yard from inside the house.“An eye for an eye! Justice done!” We yelled behind them. And that was the end of our problems with the snow bullies.Ever since then, our snowman was kept guarded and intact until it happily melted into spring water and finally wove into our sweetest childhood memories.
