Everyone gets wet, but it is all in a spirit of friendliness, blessing and fun. In addition, this festival is for rain because it is the hottest season.

Language Points
1. I'm going to Chiang Mai in two weeks. 我打算两周后去清迈。
(1) 动词go, come, leave, stay, die, get, start等可以用现在进行时表
示将来计划和打算。
They are leaving for America next week. 他们下周动身去美国。
(2) in two weeks 两周之后
“in+一段时间”表示“在一段时间之后”，用于一般将来时。
He will visit Beijing in three days.
after+一段时间 常与一般过去时连用。
After three hour's walk, we all felt tired.

我想知道它是否和云南傣族的泼水节相似。
在本句中，if是连词，意为“是否”，引导宾语从句“it’s similar to the water festival of …”，表示疑问语气。注意宾语 从句中疑问句要用陈述语序。
(2) similar 是形容词，意为“相似的；相像的”，常用短语
“be similar to…”意为“与……相似”。
